Posting on Dd's behalf (with permission) to poll for names. She likes the above but very open to suggestions - her brief is 'not to common but not weird' 🤔 Hit me up with options for her to peruse please. Thanks

Lots of Henry’s and Freddie’s at the moment. So a vote for Joshua!

Yes, lots of Freddies at the moment, but it’s usually a name in its own right or shortened from Alfred or Wilfred. Lots of Henrys and even more Joshuas. All nice names though.

Ethan
Edmund
Dominic

Oscar
Isaac
Rory

Jasper

I have an aversion to Joshua. Not rational, but is what it is.
Prefer the Frederick spelling.

Simon, Seth, Anthony, Andrew, David, Stephen, Richard, Raymond, James, Chris(topher), Kit, John, Mark, Peter, Paul: unusual now.

bigandbumpy · 13/02/2019 05:39

I had a baby 11 days ago and he's called Joshua :)

florascotia2 · 13/02/2019 07:04

All nice names but - if it matters - all top 20 (if Frederick becomes Freddie, that is).

Henry ranked 13 in 2017, Joshua 15, and Freddie 16.
Frederick, if not abbreviated, ranked 72.

I have some aversion to Joshua too. Nothing wrong with it but I just don't get it.
Not keen on Frederick (note the spelling), Fred is not nice. Freddie is ok but so popular.
Henry is Ok.

I'm not keen on OT names, generally, especially the trendy ones.
I like things like Charlie, James, Michael and NT names.

emilybrontescorsett · 13/02/2019 21:22

I think Freddie will date very quickly.
Henry is okish.
Joshua was very popular several years ago but I think has maintained its status, so if the 3 might be the most consistent if that makes sense.

FlyingMonkeys · 13/02/2019 23:44

Thanks folks! She's added; Luke, Ezra, and Rory to the list.

I have a Joshua (and a Dominic)
If I had another boy Ezra is high on my list. Although it's becoming more popular

erja · 14/02/2019 00:35

Out of the 3 I'd go for Fredrick but Rory or Ezra from the updated list are much nicer (although I think Rory's a bit overused!)

FlyingMonkeys · 14/02/2019 00:45

Thank you! Her go to girl name was Clara and she's a bit 😭 As such a great name! So she said boys wise she's a tad stumped! 😁 Obviously whatever her final choice will be awesome!

Luke or Joshua.

Smoliver · 14/02/2019 01:27

I love all 3 names. I can't use Joshua though, so that name gets my vote Grin I also like Luke and Rory.

Other names:
Joseph
Thomas
Daniel
Isaac
Peter
Ethan
Zachery

aliceandkids77 · 15/02/2019 10:23

love all three but my vote goes to Frederick! How about:
Nathaniel
Harvey
Grey/Grayson
Aaron
Thomas
Oscar
Jasper
Zachary
Dylan (although this is very common)
Ethan
Jonathan
Miles
Elliott
Edward
Arthut
congratulations to your daughter ! x
