DC2 due imminently, and we could really do with opinions:

Girl- Orla, Ava, Edith (or Edie), Violet
Boy- Thomas, Joseph, Finley, Rory

Any favourites or other suggestions? Dc is due next week 🙈 and we are nowhere near agreeing!

Dd is Niamh if that has any effect on anything

Oh I forgot Arthur as another potential boys name

Love Ava but there are Ava's everywhere if that bothers you. I think it's top 3 name? My favourite would be Edie for your girls names and Joseph for boys

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/01/2019 06:36

Love all the boys name. Love Joseph/Joe in particular.

Not keen on the girls.

Daniel
Robert

Arthur

I like Edith, Violet and Rory from your list.

schopenhauer · 30/01/2019 06:48

I like Edith with the nickname Edie and Thomas or Joseph. There are so many Arthur’s around these days.

GB54 · 30/01/2019 12:00

I like Ava and Violet.
Thomas from your boy list.

WrapAndRoll · 30/01/2019 12:03

Edith Violet

Joseph Thomas

thatsmyspace · 30/01/2019 12:06

Violet and Joesph are my favourites from you list

Tolstoyina · 30/01/2019 13:02

I think Niamh and Ava are too similar.

I’m a Brownie leader and all the Niamh/Eve/Evie/Eva/Ava variants just blend into each other. I’m not exaggerating - more than half the pack has one of those five names!

Shadow1234 · 30/01/2019 14:40

Rory and Finley from the boys list
Ava from the girls list

KirstyT11 · 30/01/2019 15:17

Edith is lovely but I love Edie more as just a name not necessarily a nickname. ..and Rory for a boy!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/01/2019 15:45

Orla Violet or Joseph Thomas.

MikeUniformMike · 30/01/2019 16:40

Girl- Orla, Ava, Edith (or Edie), Violet
Boy- Thomas, Joseph, Finley, Rory, Arthur

Boys names all OK but Finley is too popular and will date.
Rory I would rule out because r can be difficult for some people.

Girls - Orla goes with Niamh, but suggests an Irish link. Ava - overused and not all that nice. Edie is ok but Edith seems frumpy.
Violet is ok.

starkid · 30/01/2019 16:46

Girl- Orla & Edith/Edie
Boys- Thomas & Rory. Don't mind Finlay but spelt that way, not with an e.

:) good luck for next week!

starkid · 30/01/2019 16:46

And Arthur is cute too :)

Sophronia · 30/01/2019 21:23

Orla or Thomas

Astronica · 31/01/2019 04:09

Girl: Edith/Edie is my favourite, then Violet then Orla. All of these 3 are good and would work well. I wouldn't use Ava with Niamh, and Ava is over-used (and unappealing to me).

All the boy names are okay. My favourites are Thomas, then Rory.

Ihavealwaysknown · 02/02/2019 00:06

@Sophronia if I get my own way they are my choices 😂

DH picked Niamh, I wanted Ava.

I don’t really see how Niamh and Ava are too similar, am I missing something @Tolstoyina? I also find it strange you have so many Niamh’s in your brownie group, DH and I are both teachers at schools with 1000+ Students and not a single Niamh is on role at either, the same can be said of both SIL 3 and 4 form entry primary schools 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess it must vary by area!

No, you're not. They are not too similar at all. Ava sounds lovely with Niamh. I also like Orla from your girls list and Finley for a boy.

AdaColeman · 02/02/2019 00:35

Edith and Violet are my favourites, I think Ava is very popular.

Rory is a great name, I’d pick that from your list.
