DH and I are fairly sure we have settled on a name for our son due in May. We both love the name Felix. What are everyone’s thoughts?

Felix the cat!

PurpleAndTurquoise · 27/01/2019 22:23

Yes, cat food for me too. Sorry OP

TheBluesAreStillBlue · 27/01/2019 22:24

I love it and it was number 1 on our list (had a girl though). So what if some people associate the name with Felix the cat? It’s common enough to have other connotations and all names remind someone of something....

TokenGinger · 27/01/2019 22:37

Felix is high on my list! DP says no, but I love it.

Picknickers · 27/01/2019 22:39

Such a great meaning. I like it.

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2019 22:41

Cat for me. Sorry.

It matters not what we think of it though, all that matters is that you love it.

freezinguplands · 27/01/2019 22:41

I like it. The cat food is only in the UK.

KnightError · 27/01/2019 22:42

Cat food for me, too!

TheDowagerCuntess · 27/01/2019 22:43

Not to my taste at all - but what does it matter 'what people think'. You're never going to find a name that everyone likes.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 27/01/2019 22:46

My first impressions of Felix;

Felix is precocious, full of energy, likes to take things apart to see how they work. Has boundless energy. Gives bear hugs. Can be naughty. But he has a good soul. When he grows up people will describe him as intelligent and funny. Smart as whip. Good natured. Considered by many to be a good egg. Hates spiders.

IHeartKingThistle · 27/01/2019 22:47

I like it. Also reminds me of Felix Felicis in Harry Potter.

ReaganSomerset · 27/01/2019 22:48

Means lucky, doesn't it? There are definitely worse names out there.

Sophronia · 27/01/2019 22:54

I used to dislike it, but I actually don’t mind it now.

Luckingfovely · 27/01/2019 22:54

I like it!

WrapAndRoll · 28/01/2019 07:37

It's a lovely classic Biblical name with a nice meaning.

Wright2019 · 28/01/2019 07:51

Thanks everyone. With such an opinionated Family I just wanted to get a little feed back haha. I do very much still love the name so I don’t think we will be changing it. it was Felix or Otis I think they are both quite a like though. Felix is the winner I think :)

I love it. I also love cats, so really don't care if people associate it with them Grin

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 28/01/2019 08:09

I love it. I don't think of the cat food, I think of an upper class gent!

Ontopofthesunset · 28/01/2019 08:12

I know quite a few Felixes (Felices?) of various ages so it just seems like a normal name to me. I like it.

Astronica · 28/01/2019 08:33

I love Felix. Not so keen on Otis.

bridgetreilly · 28/01/2019 08:43

I think it's lovely.

JacksonPillock · 28/01/2019 08:54

I love it, was one of our top choices for DS1.

Livpool · 28/01/2019 08:56

I really like it! Sounds quite fancy Smile

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/01/2019 09:10

It’s lovely, go for it.

Butterfly84 · 28/01/2019 13:41

I love Felix. The cat association wouldn't bother me. However, it is a bit pretentious.
