Hi all,

Already have one son with a British biblical name. Hubby is an Indian Hindu so would like to give the next one a name from his culture as we just think it would be nice. What do you guys think - would this be odd? I always see threads about names that would "go" with the other sibling name so now I'm having a burst of paranoia that two names from two different cultures would be weird?

Also would like some opinions about these names and whether you think they work in English (we don't live in England but my family and friends are all still there so don't want them all to hate the name or for it to get Hmm looks when we go back for visits.

Lakshmi
Yashi - successful
Mahi - earth
Astha - Faith
Anura - knowledgable
Anara - Wanderer / Powerful and complete
Yani - peace
Resmi - Full Of Light
Sura - Brave

Favourites and thoughts?

Thank you Smile

oh i really like Sura, and it has a beautiful meaning too.

Sunneye · 26/01/2019 18:25

Is it a girl or a boy?

Juniejunoji · 26/01/2019 18:33

Sorry should have added, all girl names!

Also like Harni (flower), Tarli (star), and Tarla (honeybee) but thought they might be too cutesy?

Anara, Sura, Tarli and Tarla are my favourites! Beautiful names!

Heyha · 26/01/2019 18:52

I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them (how often can you say that on one of these!). I reckon I'd shortlist by which ones would flow best with your DS name when you're signing birthday cards etc?

Spam88 · 26/01/2019 19:00

Don't hate any of them, particularly like Anara, Sura, Tarli and Tarla and think they all work in English. Anara especially is so pretty.

Champy87 · 26/01/2019 19:19

I think they are all lovely but I would say Sura and Anara would be be my favourites. Also as your son has a biblical name, many of these cross cultures anyway (Jacob, Joseph, Benjamin) so it might not be as British as you think.

Sexnotgender · 26/01/2019 19:20
