Has anyone heard this name before? I think it’s french. Is it pronounced just Bayde (as in fade) or Bay-Dee?

Hmm. I would worry about it sounding like "Baddie".

ElizabethMainwaring · 26/01/2019 06:53

I would worry about it sounding like 'bidet'.

Birdie6 · 26/01/2019 06:54

Kids at school would call him Baddy.

Happilyacceptingcookies · 26/01/2019 06:55

Not keen, I'm sorry

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 26/01/2019 07:03

I live in France and have never heard this name. But if you were reading the word as a French person you'd pronounce it "bard"

Parthenope · 26/01/2019 07:07

Are you sure it’s not Bede? Pronounced by most French accents, it would sound slightly like ‘Bayde’...

flumpybear · 26/01/2019 07:24

Looks too much like babe

gillybombilly · 26/01/2019 07:35

I’ve never heard of Bade, but I do know a Baden.

LeslieYep · 26/01/2019 07:47

My friend Baden is known as Bade.

Maxrichterttt · 26/01/2019 07:51

Ahh so Bade is short for Baden? I heard of a bade via a friend of a friend and thought it was a nice uncommon but not too unusual name. I looked into it a bit more and it’s connected to an Arabic name meaning full moon which is nice!

Sounds like how my dd used to say SpadeGrin

enjoyingscience · 26/01/2019 19:40

I’ve met a Baden and a Bede. I’d wonder if it was ba-de (like Sade!). Too confusing.

Whatdoiwanttohear · 26/01/2019 19:41

Awful

BlancheM · 26/01/2019 20:20

It sounds like it's the past tense of something
It isn't French, I've never heard of it. German place name though

Ellieboolou27 · 26/01/2019 20:23

Not a nice sounding name to me - sorry

DramaAlpaca · 26/01/2019 20:38

It sounds like someone with a heavy cold trying to say 'babe'.

RedWineIsFabulous · 26/01/2019 20:40

My children called a spade a “ bade “ too

I think it’s a ridiculous name

Bade?

Why would you saddle a child with that??

Ngaio2 · 26/01/2019 23:00

Bade is just an English word — the ast tense of bid as in He bade his friend farewell.
Bay is used as a name
Baden became a popular boy’s name after the founder of the Boy Scouts movement Robert BADEN Powell

Maxrichterttt · 27/01/2019 06:09

I do quite like Baden but don’t think we would actually use it as it doesn’t really go with our surname.

@RedWineIsFabulous does it make you feel clever being unnecessarily rude and condescending to a stranger on the internet? 🙄

RedWineIsFabulous · 27/01/2019 17:04

But you asked op.

I was just giving my honest opinion and that is that I think the name bade is ridiculous.

Badr is an Arabic name (so quite common in France) it means the full moon, you pronounce it like 'badder'.
