Please give your honest opinions. Pregnant with twin boys stuck on names that are pairs and middle names. Want to go with something 'cool' but not 'chavy'. Please give opinions.

Max
Leo
Rory
Brodie
Dylan
Flynn
Arlo
Otis
Frankie
Luca

Max - like
Leo - like
Rory - love
Brodie - meh
Dylan - no
Flynn - like
Arlo - love
Otis - no - reminds me of Otis the aardvark
Frankie - no - reminds me of Frankie Bridge - too "girly"
Luca - no

In terms of "pairs":

Max and Leo
Max and Rory
Max and Flynn
Max and Arlo
Max and Luca

Leo and Rory
Leo and Dylan
Leo and Flynn

Rory and Flynn
Rory and Brodie
Rory and Arlo

Brodie and Frankie
Brodie and Dylan

Flynn and Arlo
Flynn and Otis

Otis and Luca possibly

I think Luca is the "odd one out" name.

MichelleBolton · 24/01/2019 13:21

Frankie Flynn and Luca Leo.
Gorgeous

PippilottaLongstocking · 24/01/2019 13:26

I love them all! As pairs I’d actually put them together in the order you wrote them so
Max & Leo
Rory & Brodie
Dylan & Flynn
Arlo & Otis
Frankie & Luca

I think my top choice would be Dylan and Flynn (both names I love but don’t work with my surname!) with Arlo and Otis a close second (both names I nearly used, went for Otto instead)

Mamabear4180 · 24/01/2019 13:26

Love Luca and would be the name I’d give a boy. Also love Otis and Leo. Arlo is ok. Not keen on the others, prefer Floyd over Flynn but I’m a massive Floyd fan!

Luca and Leo sound great! Or Luca and Leon even better IMO

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 24/01/2019 13:38

Frankie Flynn sounds like a character in a gangster comedy (assuming such things exist).

Luca and Leo work well together, despite the same-initial-letter thing.

tammytoby · 24/01/2019 13:39

Arlo, Otis and Quinn are my favourites.

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/01/2019 13:48

I wouldn't have put Leo and Rory as associated names until someone mentioned lion. But now I've thought about it the children do have a toy Rory and Leo lions.

But then I have children with tenuous associated names because it just happened - one is the name of an actress, the other the character she plays. We didn't make the link until we were watching the programme with our youngest nearby. Same as she and her twin brother share names associated with Arthurian legend. But unless you know alternative forms you wouldn't connect them at all. We didn't until after we had named them. It was a bit of a 'doh' moment. But not as bad as calling them John and Jack.

If you look hard enough.

They are are nice names but alliterative names for twins is a bad idea.

No one can remember which is which. They both end up L Smith with the same birthday and address and appointments, files etc get confused.

Twins need their own distinct name. They are part of a set in every other area of their life, their name needs to be their own.

ILoveChristmasLights · 24/01/2019 14:00

Max & Frankie
Max & Otis
Leo & Otis
Not ok, they ‘run together’ fine switched around (Frankie & Max, Otis & Max & Otis & Leo)

Leo & Arlo
(Sound like you were trying to make them as similar as possible)
Leo & Luca
(Looks like you chose two L nanes, not nanes you liked best)

Rory & Brodie
Too similar

Dylan & Flynn
Too samey

Arlo & Otis
Too much of a mouthful

OutPinked · 24/01/2019 15:52

Max- always liked Max but it’s fairly common and I’ve always been told it’s a dogs name.
Leo- like it but would use Leonardo and shorten it.
Rory- not a fan. Makes me think of a lion.
Brodie- don’t like it, very American.
Dylan- again, not a fan.
Flynn- quite like this
Arlo- always liked this but been told it’s a cats name
Otis- like this a lot
Frankie- not a fan.
Luca- like it but I think it’s pretty common at the moment.

Out of the list I would use Arlo and Otis. Or Leonardo and Otis.

Flamingosnbears · 24/01/2019 15:59

Dylan and Flynn are great together!!! 😉

Lucas and Oscar

I like Max and Leo. Good luck with your babies.

outforawalkbitch2018 · 24/01/2019 19:51

Rory and Brodie

JoyFlamingo · 24/01/2019 19:58

Name change here. I know twins called Leo and Rory. It really suits them and I like the fact there is a subtle theme.

Leo and Max also nice OP

JoyFlamingo · 24/01/2019 19:59

And Brodie is hugely chavvy (sorry)

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/01/2019 20:17

My twins are alliterative J names. But you'd not easily get the two of them mixed up. Twin son and his older, also J, brother...!

But we didn't intentionally choose the J theme. It just happened that those were the names we liked.

SweetbutAPsycho · 24/01/2019 20:41

My favourites are probably Flynn and Luca. They are cool and unique without being faddy like Arlo or Otis. Max, Leo and Rory are a bit boring imo.

HJL2506 · 24/01/2019 21:11

Definitely wouldn't have Leo and Rory together!

Jaz32 · 24/01/2019 21:39

Max & Leo!!
I have a Dylan & Lucas myself (not twins)
Like Finley (Finn) not Flynn

reign · 24/01/2019 22:37

My top 4 are Max, Leo, Rory and Dylan. However some of the 'pairs' we've come up with have other combinations... Hadn't even thought of the Leo Rory thing but tbh quite a leap so not to bothered.

As for Brodie, my husband is Scottish and this is one he is convinced is Scottish... For the same reason we can't use Quinn as it's a family surname.

They are fraternal twins, so not worried if we go for super close names they'll never be told apart ever again!

IME that’s not how it works in real
Life.

Despite your best efforts lots of people will call them “the twins” or “the Reign Twins” and lots of people will never be quite sure which is which even if they look very different.

Names which are too similar or matchy matchy just make it harder for everyone (as does dressing them alike).

Besides which they might be non-ID but they are still brothers They might be very similar looking.

As for Leo the Lion and Rory the Lion. They are not a stretch by any manner.

Google them. There are story books and cartoons, songs and birthday cakes all aimed at children.

Schmoochypoos · 24/01/2019 23:19

Frank and Max 👌🏻

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/01/2019 23:54

Nice list OP.
My favourites are Rory and Dylan.
Rory Frank and Dylan Max.

foxtiger · 28/01/2019 20:12

I think Rory and Flynn sounds good together, and so do Arlo and Otis except that it seems to be quite a popular combination for brothers.

Kokeshi123 · 28/01/2019 23:24

I agree, no lions' names and no alliterative names for twins.

OP, are you sure they are fraternal ;) (I think you can be sure if you have had NIPT testing, but otherwise I think you can only be sure once they are out and you have had genetic testing done). Not that it matters, you would be surprised how much even fraternal twins get lumped together.

A friend of mine had a fraternal twin sister who happened to work in a different department of the same company. As soon as people learned that they were twins, they started confusing them, even if they had known them separately beforehand and had no difficulty telling them apart--they didn't even look particularly similar! (no more than regular sisters). It was quite funny.
