Please give your honest opinions. Pregnant with twin boys stuck on names that are pairs and middle names. Want to go with something 'cool' but not 'chavy'. Please give opinions.

Max
Leo
Rory
Brodie
Dylan
Flynn
Arlo
Otis
Frankie
Luca

Max - I find this boring
Leo - overused
Rory - I like it but too popular where I am
Brodie - it's alright. Prefer Bodhi
Dylan - hate
Flynn - too American, not keen
Arlo - it's okay, a bit overused currently
Otis - really like!
Frankie - it's okay
Luca - not keen, maybe because I know a female Lucah.

Out of your list I'd probably go for Arlo and Otis, although the only one I really like is Otis!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 23/01/2019 20:18

I’d skip choosing anything cool. Cool ends up dated or try too hard
Names are of course subjective but here goes
Max like it
Leo meh, lion springs to mind
Rory, like the name but I hope you’re in a part of world that can pronounce Rory, rollin r. Not wo-ray
Brodie love it
Dylan meh
Flynn like it
Arlo, wanky try too hard
Otis,infected ear
Frankie meh
Luca nice but popular with bugaboo types

Max: I like, good strong name.
Leo: again a strong name and not too common.
Rory: Racing car, not a fan.
Brodie: like but it is becoming popular.
Dylan: it’s a naughty boys name to me.
Flynn: like not too common
Arlo: I like this but see it as a hipster name.
Otis: don’t like
Frankie: Love it for a girl but not a boy.
Luca: again hipster I prefer Lucien.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 23/01/2019 20:21

Brodie - it's alright. Prefer Bodhi
How’s Bodhi pronounced?Bod-hi? Or Bawdy? Bodhi will cause problems

Terramirabilis · 23/01/2019 20:21

Max - Overdone
Leo - Makes me think of Tony Blair
Rory - the lion
Brodie - Are you on Home and Away?
Dylan - Overdone
Flynn - Makes me think of Errol
Arlo - Pretentious
Otis - lifts
Frankie - OK, but I'm not keen on nicknames as names. Frank is better (even though I guess that could also be a nickname.)
Luca - Are you Italian?

I think overall I'm being very harsh but you did say rate and slate! In general maybe these feel too current/popular in the last few years. I suspect these could be the type of names that will really date.

HalfBloodPrincess · 23/01/2019 20:21

I like Leo and Max from your list - normal names, not ‘matchy’ but go together nicely.

GMtoBe · 23/01/2019 20:22

I'd go Max and Brodie. My initial instinct was to go with Leo and Max but I immediately thought of that song from the producers!

erja · 23/01/2019 20:23

@LipstickHandbagCoffee bo-dee (rhymes with Jodie)

Romanmonkey · 23/01/2019 20:23

I like Arlo, Max, Dylan and Leo best from your list

t1mum3 · 23/01/2019 20:24

I thought about calling my twin boys Arlo and Otis but a long time ago now! I decided it was a bit "try hard" especially as a pair. Of your list I'd probably go with Max and Leo. Prefer Finn to Flynn and think Finn and Rory sound quite good. Congratulations. Twin boys rock.

youmeandconchitawurst · 23/01/2019 20:26

Both Rate and Slate sound great!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 23/01/2019 20:26

Really?can’t see how Bodhi =Bo-Dee. I wouldn’t have seen that pronunciation coming

tammytoby · 23/01/2019 20:48

I like Otis. How about Quinn?

RedDwarves · 23/01/2019 21:05

Flynn and Otis. Smile

TigerQuoll · 23/01/2019 21:08

Arlo and Otis sounds like the movie Milo and Otis.

Astronica · 23/01/2019 21:55

Not Brodie and especially not Bohdi if you don't want a 'chavvy' name.
And not Arlo and Otis together as a pp said because it immediately references the film Milo and Otis. I'm not keen on Arlo (very trendy and a bit weak sounding), Dylan and Frankie. Luca only works well with Italian surname and background for me.

I love Max, Leo, Rory and Flynn - though I prefer Finn. It doesn't worry me that some of these have been popular for a while as they are such good names. My favourite pair is Rory and Leo, but any 2 out of this 4 (or Finn) would be great I think.

FlagFish · 23/01/2019 21:57

I’d go with Max and Rory from your list.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/01/2019 22:02

Rhyming names are not cool, so I'd steer clear of Rate and Slate (although Slate is a great name). Wink

I like all of them except Brodie, although Frankie sounds like a girl's name to me which might cause issues (DS had a name that was more common as a girl's name and his passport was issued as the wrong sex, even though 'male' had been ticked on the form). Max is a great name, but there are three of them in DD's class (she's 10) so it's pretty popular. I particularly like Flynn and Arlo together.

eachtigertires · 23/01/2019 22:03

From your list my favourite two are Frankie (as a nickname for Francis though) and Luca.

GroggyLegs · 23/01/2019 22:09

Leo
Max
Rory
Flynn

I also like Finn & Rex.

Sophronia · 23/01/2019 22:49

I like Max and Leo as a pair.

Picknickers · 23/01/2019 23:48

Leo and Rory are great.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 24/01/2019 01:48

Flynn is a great name!

YouSetTheTone · 24/01/2019 07:33

Love Leo and Rory.
And they have a similar vibe without sounding ‘matchy’.

pilates · 24/01/2019 07:39

Love Rory 💕
Rory and Jack if I had twin boys
