Please give your honest opinions. Pregnant with twin boys stuck on names that are pairs and middle names. Want to go with something 'cool' but not 'chavy'. Please give opinions.

Max
Leo
Rory
Brodie
Dylan
Flynn
Arlo
Otis
Frankie
Luca

Mum of twin boys here. Ours have strong names that work either way round, so it’s not always A and B it works as B & A as well. Wee tip we were told, name the first one lower down the alphabet than the second-born twin, the first will always have the “I’m older than you” crap, but the second born will get on the school/whatever register first. Little victories! (So my twin1 begins with R, twin2 begins with L) Are yours going to be identical or fraternal? Ours are fraternal. Born at 37+6, weighing 7lbs5 and 6lbs4! Yeouch! Good luck!

Remember cool now could be a joke later. Traditional never goes out of fashion .

Happyandshiney · 24/01/2019 07:46

I’m a twin Mum.

Don’t pick names that rhyme or alliterate.

Don’t pick names that sound like a set (eg Leo and Rory - both lion names)

We also did what Doodle suggested - first twin’s name is layer in the alphabet.

The most important thing is that you can shout both names together without them running into one.

You also need names which don’t sound the same when shouted from a distance otherwise neither child will ever come when called. Grin

Rory and Flynn

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/01/2019 08:09

Out of your list here's my association.
Max
Leo
Rory - the racing car or Amy Pond from Dr Who's husband.
Brodie
Dylan
Flynn - Rider (tangled)
Arlo - the good dinosaur
Otis - Reading
Frankie - goes to Hollywood
Luca

Twin boys I know of.
Thomas and Matthew
Ollie and Fraser
Fred and George (seriously).

Famous twin boys, well. One of the pair might be famous...
Will and Rupert (Young)
Mark and Paul (Vin Diesel and twin)
Ashton and Michael (Kutcher)
Dylan and Cole (Sprouse)
Robin and Maurice (Gibb)

wiki help to continue that list.

It might be worth suggesting names to avoid as a pair too.

Michael and Jackson
Reggie and Ronnie

Personally I think Liam and Luke (as in Hemsworth non twin brothers) goes together quite well and could be called either way round. Same with Edward and Henry but it depends on how traditional a person you are and whether you would associate with Jekyll and Hyde.

Connor and Lucas/Lucas and Connor

I do feel for you. I found naming boys so much harder than our girls. Our twins are boy/girl so no help other than twin boy has Joshua and Joseph for names. They run together well, but it might be too much to name two separate boys and both could be shortened to Joe which might be a problem when they are a lot older and in separate classes and careers.

Lastbustowhitehawk · 24/01/2019 08:16

I like Max and Leo but am really just here to express my relief that you're not planning on naming your boys Rate and Slate 😂 (Given the suggestions you sometimes see on here it wouldn't be beyond the realms of the possible...)

Strugglingtodomybest · 24/01/2019 08:18

No one would seriously call twins Leo and Rory would they?!

SavageBeauty73 · 24/01/2019 08:22

I like Dylan and Max

Ticcinalong · 24/01/2019 08:27

Max and Leo are a good set without being matchy!
Other names you may like?
Seb (Sebastian)
Asher
Joe
Jude
Ezra
Milo
Billy

littlemeitslyn · 24/01/2019 10:48

I wouldn't bother asking for suggestions from such a negative lot !!

littlemeitslyn · 24/01/2019 10:49

'Wanky' really????

daisypond · 24/01/2019 11:39

Max, Leo and Rory are my favourites. I don't see the problem with Rory and Leo together. Rory does not mean lion, which Leo does. Quite like Dylan as well. Luke or Lucas instead of Luca.
Brodie - too surnamey.
Flynn - too surnamey wannabe cool
Arlo - too trendy, will date
Otis - not keen.
Frankie - only if short for Francis, and I'm not keen on that.
Luca - too trendy, will date.

Icklepup · 24/01/2019 11:40

Flynn and Otis!

moodyblues · 24/01/2019 11:42

I love Luca and Frankie. Sound great together, not keen on the rest of your list apart from Leo.

MikeUniformMike · 24/01/2019 12:40

Max - yes
Leo - yes but very popular
Rory - ok but too many Rs.
Brodie - no
Dylan - no.
Flynn - no
Arlo - no
Otis- no
Frankie - no. Frank is ok.
Luca - no. Luke is ok.

Max and Leo.

BartonHollow · 24/01/2019 12:47

If it was me having twins and I could ONLY pick from that list it would be Flynn and Frankie.

I agree that you can't have Rory AND Leo together

daisypond · 24/01/2019 12:53

Why can't you have Rory and Leo together? Can someone explain?

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 24/01/2019 12:57

Another vote for Rory and Leo. Most of the rest are too on-trend and try-hard. In future years everyone will be able to date all the Otises and Arlos to the 2010s.

What noise do lions make?

BartonHollow · 24/01/2019 13:04

Otis - lift

Grin

It makes me think Aardvark

daisypond · 24/01/2019 13:07

But Rory means red-haired king or something. I would never associate a lion's roar with the name Rory.

BartonHollow · 24/01/2019 13:12

Rory alone no

Leo and Rory together, yes

Lions? Oh, FFS! Confused You really have to do some mental gymnastics to get to that one, tbh. But a lot of Brits (yes, I am one, but never experienced this with other nationalities) seem to love doing this. Someone on another thread the other day was insisting that Emma Freud is hilariously funny because it sounds like haemorrhoid Hmm
