I really like the name but, as a teacher, I've taught lots of naughty Aidans! Anyone had a different experience and able to convince me otherwise?

I know an Aidan and he is absolutely lovely! I think it’s a great name.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/01/2019 09:27

I don't usually 'den'/dan ending names.
They just scream chav to me.
However Aidan us lovely and classic
and quire uncommon now. Although I prefer it spelt Aiden

Notso · 23/01/2019 09:33

I don't like it.
Especially not with the sea of Haydan, Braydan, Kaydan, Raydan and Jaydens

WrapAndRoll · 23/01/2019 09:40

I like Aidan (with this spelling). It's a classic saint's name.

Lucylou56 · 23/01/2019 17:02

Love the name and know an Aidan who’s an absolute gentleman

Racecardriver · 23/01/2019 17:03

Aidan turner 😍🤤😍

GB54 · 23/01/2019 17:24

It’s pretty popular at my son’s school! It’s ok though.
I don’t believe in “naughty names” (also a teacher) so don’t let that put you off.

Pancakepoop · 23/01/2019 21:10

My least liked name, sorry.

FlagFish · 23/01/2019 21:13

I like Aidan as a name. But I have to admit that the only small boy (age 9) I know with this name is quite naughty!

MadeForThis · 23/01/2019 21:47

Love the Irish version Aodhan

Yika · 23/01/2019 21:49

Lovely name

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 23/01/2019 21:51

My first impressions of Aidan are quite positive. Think Aidan Quinn of Pratical Magic, Legends of the Fall and Avalon.

Handsome, charming, honourable, honest, hardworking, decent, kind, charismatic. Someone who takes care of his family. A loving father and husband. A friend you can trust to have your back through hard times. Protective but not overbearing. Confident and assertive yet, never aggressive or abusive. Settles disputes calmly and effectively. Good natured. Thoughtful and will always hold hands with his wife. Carries his son or daughter on his shoulders when they are young. Offers money to the homeless when he has extra money in his pocket, but never tells anyone about it. Doesn't talk a lot, but when he does, people listen. Firm but fair. Loves animals, especially dogs. When he smiles, his eyes smile with him.

Good luck on your name quest! And, congratulations if you are expecting! Flowers

In Ireland Aidan is a solid and sensible name perceived the way Daniel (for example) would be in the UK. Some people on MN however seem to think it's on a par with calling your child Chavvius Maximus.

It’s a lovely name

GoldenSyrupLion · 23/01/2019 21:56

Lovely.

Villainess · 23/01/2019 21:57

MissLane that made me laugh! Quite the character reference for all the Aidans out there Grin

I'd forgotten about Aidan Quinn. He was a handsome devil back in the day.

Mrsbclinton · 23/01/2019 21:59

I love it, good solid name.

DramaAlpaca · 23/01/2019 22:27

It's a perfectly nice Irish name. I like it a lot.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 23/01/2019 22:36

Thank you, Villainess!!! I'm glad you like it!

I can't help it though, I've always been this way. I hear a name and suddenly their whole life story is in my head. I guess, I'm just weird that way. DH thinks it's endearing. I prefer his view, to mine. HA! Grin

Aidan Quinn, yes! I know! Wasn't he the dreamiest?! swoon

Butterfly84 · 23/01/2019 22:56

I loveee Aidan. Strong and lovely name.

Obsidian77 · 23/01/2019 22:58

Love it

cstaff · 23/01/2019 23:10

Great name but I am irish so probably biased

SpeedyBojangles · 23/01/2019 23:11

One of my favourite boys' names. My DB is Aidan and he is lovely. Would have used the name myself but I have two DB's so wouldn't have been fair.

BlueChampagne · 24/01/2019 13:02

And what about Aidan Turner!

daisypond · 24/01/2019 16:18

I know three Aidans - all are super nice boys, well behaved. One of them is particularly academically brilliant/genius. I think it's a nice name. Only positive associations.
