Just trying to see what you guys think of these:

Eleonora or Genevieve.

Im told Eleonora is an italian variation and Genevieve is french. Although that isnt really why I picked these, I just really like them.

Im having trouble picking between them, I just keep going back and forth. Which one do you like best and why?

thanks!

Twickerhun · 21/01/2019 21:10

Ribbonsonabox · 21/01/2019 21:11

I prefer Geneveive, great nicknames - Genny or Genie, Vivi.
Don't like Eleanora, I like Eleanor.

Argeles · 21/01/2019 21:27

Genevieve is so gorgeous, and was on our list.

The problem that I have though, is that I only love the French pronounciation ‘jhonvee-ev,’ but cannot stand the typical British pronounciation, ‘Jen-e-veeve.’ We tested the name - wrote it down and had family and friends pronounce it, and every time it was ‘Jen-e-veeve.’
For this reason, we decided we just couldn’t take the risk, and erased it from our list.

Blueroses4 · 21/01/2019 21:31

@Argeles, thats a shame :/

In my case, I actually like both pronunciations. Only downside would be the very common Jen,Jenna,Jenny nicknames that I really dislike.

Genevieve, but both are beautiful

tammytoby · 21/01/2019 22:36

Eleonora definitely! Lovely name.

Geneviève only sounds nice in French! It sounds awful in English imo.

Argeles · 22/01/2019 00:08

@Blueroses4

That’s great that you like both pronounciations. I mentioned it in case you hadn’t taken it into consideration.

Blueroses4 · 22/01/2019 00:57

@Argeles No I understood, no worries. I appreciated it! :)

I prefer Genevieve - a lovely name! I do like Eleanora but prefer Eleanor.

MamaDane · 22/01/2019 04:09

Both are lovely. Just pick the one your baby looks like the most.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/01/2019 09:25

I prefer Leonora tbh or Eleanor.

Shadow1234 · 22/01/2019 11:35

Genevieve would be my choice

WrapAndRoll · 22/01/2019 12:32

Eleanora.

GB54 · 22/01/2019 14:13

Eleanora!

Icklepup · 22/01/2019 14:16

Genevieve

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2019 14:44

Don't like either of them.

SweetbutAPsycho · 22/01/2019 15:29

Love them both! Although prefer Genevieve slightly more. Nora is a lovely nickname though x

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 15:29

Genevieve

FartnissEverbeans · 22/01/2019 16:26

I prefer Genevieve and I prefer the English pronunciation. It’s really fresh and interesting. Eleanora is pretty but I know so many Eleanors that it would put me off a bit.

Sophronia · 22/01/2019 23:36

Genevieve is lovely. I like Eleonora too but I think a lot of people will spell it Eleanora (going by most of the previous posts!)

TillyTheTiger · 22/01/2019 23:42

Genevieve is gorgeous, it's been on my list for a while. The only one I know of is shortened to Viva so that's a possibility (or Vivi) if you dislike Jen nicknames

DramaAlpaca · 22/01/2019 23:46

Genevieve for me, I don't mind the English pronunciation.

Eleonora just seems to have one syllable too many. Also she might get the hideous Nora as a diminutive, which puts me right off it.
