Gah. Baby could come any time and we still haven't settled on a name! Last name is one syllable starting with S. Middle name will be Alison but won't really be used, if you see what I mean (it's an honour name but we won't ever be introducing her as Emma Alison/Charlotte Alison/Whatever Alison apart from birth announcement I'd imagine. I don't use my middle name and DP doesn't use his, other than on official documents.)

We originally had settled on Emma, but now I quite like Charlotte. But I don't really like Lottie as a nickname, although Charlie is fine. But I'm wondering if there's a similar kind of feeling name I've overlooked that might also work and that I could chuck into the mix. Or if we'll just have to wait and make a decision when she appears...

Help! Any thoughts?

Emma.

I like Charlotte but detest Charl, Charlie and Lottie as nicknames so would never use it.

Topofthehills · 15/01/2019 21:43

Both are lovely - wait and see when she's here!

Emma

(But I'm biased as my DD is Emma)

Laura?

DramaAlpaca · 15/01/2019 21:45

Emma

There are ten Charlotte's in dds year group but not one Emma or Emilia but two Emily's. Hth

Both names are very pretty.

Celebelly · 15/01/2019 21:47

Ooh yes I don't much like Charl either. At least Emma can only really be 'Em'.

Laura would be nice but for the fact I went to school with a girl called Laura who was horrible and it's tainted it for me. Bit silly I know, but these associations stick in your head sometimes!

I love them both (not helpful). I have a Charlotte and we love her name. We call her Charley occasionally but at school and to her friends she is Charlotte. She is never Lottie.
I do love Emma too.

FlyingMonkeys · 15/01/2019 21:49

Emma is lovely imo but then I really like Charlotte too. Em is a cute nn

Sophronia · 15/01/2019 22:35

Emma

Inktank · 15/01/2019 23:28

Emma is really nice. Understated but not prim, recognised but not faddy.

Charlotte is OK but Charlie is laddish and Lottie is very twee.

What about Lara?
