I don't usually care about initials but our surname begins with a W and I've just thought, would it be cruel to have a first name beginning with E, making the initials EW ? Will kids go eeewwww as in disgusting lol. Baby won't be having a middle name

I usually pick up on things like that. But I don't think that would cross my mind really

People usually have to point out their initials for anyone to notice things like that.

You’re overthing things.

Hi, my little boys initials are EW. He is 11 and has never had any problems with it at all.

Unless initials spell an actual silly word or acronym - POO, PIG, ARM, WTF etc - I wouldn’t really worry, 2 initials can’t really do much I don’t think.

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/01/2019 18:36

My initials are EW , both married and maiden name
Never had a problem ( and don’t actaully know what problem you’re worrying about )
If the initials were EEEEUUWWW I could understand

Eggscellent · 15/01/2019 18:37

Not a problem for me or my ds!

Gumball54 · 15/01/2019 18:45

I don’t think I’d notice that. Kids can be mean though, if you’re really worried then don’t.

Ok good, like I say I'm not bothered about initials usually but since joining this forum I've seen the odd thread about initials and people commenting "you can't possibly do that to your child it's cruel " etc lol
I guess maybe thats when it's more than 2 initials so spelling our a word .

I had a friend at school named Stephanie Louise Alison Greenacre. It took exactly 25 minutes in secondary school for her to acquire a nickname.

ReginaPhalange89 · 16/01/2019 09:51

@Ourmaud not even surprised ! Why would you give your child those initials 🙈

I would avoid it, my initials are ET and you can imagine what I got right from kindergarten and all through primary - kids pointing their fingers at me and going "EeeeTeeee gooooo hoooome!"
