Is this getting to popular now?
I’m pretty set on this if we have another girl but it doesn’t seem to be that uncommon nowadays

I hear of it a lot.. But I don't know any personally. I know a few penny's, don't know if they are actually Penelope though.

Upalln1ght · 14/01/2019 20:02

It's a very beautiful name! I have a family member and a friend who have had girls in the last 2 years called Penelope...I'm on the South coast.
But then who cares if it becomes popular...your Penelope will be individual and special to you and your family and friends :)
I grew up with a really popular name, I was one of about 10 in my school year. But I just had a different nickname which I still have and often get complimented on now (at 30).

All the best x

My toddlers name! I am yet to meet any others and always get complimented on it not being heard any more - especially by health visitors and also when we registered her

ChickensForTheHound · 14/01/2019 20:12

I have one! When I named her (a decade ago) there were about 100 others that year. It's more popular now but not so much that we meet any others. She's always been the only one in her school.

namechange898 · 14/01/2019 20:27

There's one at DS's nursery. I hear of a few nowadays, but it's still refreshing in comparison to the Isla's/Mila's/Lily's/Ava's/Amelia's! I think it's lovely.

KirstyT11 · 14/01/2019 22:56

I love it! It's near the top of our list... I'm more worried about nicknames because I'm not in love with 'penny'... and inevitably it would be shortened.

Sophronia · 14/01/2019 22:58

I used to like it, but now it makes me think of the Kardashians.

Inktank · 15/01/2019 00:24

I like it and don't know any young Penelopes.

donttakethebiscuit · 15/01/2019 00:25

I love Penelope and have never met a little Penelope, or any Penelope for that matter

Fuck off @GG2233 and stop spamming the name threads.

Penelope is a lovely name and I love Penny as a NN (or little pea Blush) it's my #1 girls name and I'm pregnant but don't know what we're having. DH hates it though Sad

BF888 · 16/01/2019 23:16

One of my nieces middle name is Penelope. I adore the name. I do have a neighbour whose niece is called Penelope and they call her Penney.

Mum2jenny · 16/01/2019 23:23

Don't particularly like Penny, prefer the full name Penelope.

mummytwoh · 18/01/2019 07:59

I love it, think i prefer Nelly to Penny as a nm. I guess the fact one of the Kardashian's called her daughter Penelope explains the rise in it.

MollyHuaCha · 18/01/2019 09:04

Lovely name.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 18/01/2019 19:11

It's a really lovely name with nice NNs.

Mum2jenny · 19/01/2019 21:53

Nice nicknames? Please can you give more details as the only one I've heard of is 'Penny' or 'Pen'

stellarfox · 20/01/2019 08:49

I love it, it's on our list! It was no 54 in England for 2017 ONS so it's relatively popular but not top 10! It was up 9 places from 2016 and probably is still rising. I don't think it is popular enough that should put you off though

Josico58 · 20/01/2019 09:16

Nicknames: Penny, Nellie, Lennie, Ellie

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/01/2019 13:19

I like Penelope, with the nn Poppy.

Josico58 · 20/01/2019 14:18

Yes Poppy is another lovely nickname. I actually prefer Poppy to Penelope

Stephanie01 · 21/01/2019 07:55

Love it.
Also, Pippa is another great name if you think Penelope/Penny is too popular
