Matilda or Jemima

Had girls name Matilda since my first pregnancy (all boys).
But I recently heard the name Jemima and keep going back to it. It somehow appealed to me.
Which one do you prefer? And why?
Popularity isn't an issue for us so no responses based on stats please!
Thank you.

I love Matilda. It was what I would have called my son if he was a girl.

Jemima. Softer and prettier.

both gorgeous names! I think Matilda has the edge for me as I love the nns Mattie and Tilly.

Jemima is much nicer.

Matilda. Gorgeous name and I actually know 3 young Jemimas and only 1 Matilda.

They’re both quite clunky.

Jemima has awkward racial connotations in the US.

So, on balance, I’d go with Matilda.

My DD is called Matilda (Tilly) and it so suits her. I've come across lots of names and she's the only Matilda we know.

Jemima is a family band for us with a nickname of mima. I love it. Matilda would be my second pick for a girl though Smile beautiful names.
