Jumping on the bandwagon even tho I’m only very early on in the pregnancy. For boys names we are sorted but for a girl there’s a few names I love but can’t quite decide between. Also any suggestions would be very welcome!!

Rosa
Éowyn (yes from LOTR self confessed geek and have loved the name since I first read it about 20years ago)
Effie
Solvi
Aurélia

Rosa or Aurelia. I think I prefer Rosa. The others are difficult to pronounce and not known as much.

erja · 13/01/2019 20:17

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I only like Effie from your list, sorry! And I slightly prefer it spelled Effy.

Nursiemum27 · 13/01/2019 20:22

@erja don’t be sorry that’s the variety of life!!! I have a thing about ie names rather than y names as I am an ie myself!

@milasmummy Rosa is def one of my fav options too

How to you pronounce the name Éowyn?
I like Effie.
Not keen on the others sorry.

missmouse101 · 13/01/2019 22:01

Effie sounds like effing so not good! Rosa is nice. How about Emerald, Iolanthe, Lowenna?

StarrySky7 · 13/01/2019 22:12

I love Rose rather than Rosa, but Rosa is still okay. I also like Eowyn, but not a fan of the others. Effie seems to need a fuller name for me (eg Josephine, Seraphine, Persephone) as it feels a bit insubstantial, though I usually don't mind this style of name.

Shadow1234 · 14/01/2019 03:19

Another vote for Rosa here!

Ricekrispie22 · 14/01/2019 05:10

Ophelia
Amelda
Hettie
Arietta
Sylvie
Calista
Celestia
Seren
Cassie
Lyra

Prefer Rose to Rosa-Rosa feels a bit stuffy.
Aurelia reminds me of the word oral sorry.
Like Effie but feel it should be a nickname.
Solve is a bit like solvent.
Never seen LOTR.

Livingthedream44 · 14/01/2019 09:01

I really like Rosa.
I like a lot of "Rose" names though (with Rosie as a shortened version).
Rosalie
Rosanna
Rosina
Rosalind.

I'm also starting to like Effie.

WhatASmashingBlouse · 14/01/2019 09:56

Oh please go with Éowyn! It's beautiful!

Nursiemum27 · 14/01/2019 10:27

Rosa seems to be most popular and Effie seems to be splitting the crowd 😂 Éowyn is pronounced A-oh-win.

I also like Summer and Aurora. And love the suggestion of Rosalie

Rosa - lovely
Éowyn (yes from LOTR self confessed geek and have loved the name since I first read it about 20years ago) - bit too LOTR
Effie - don't like it
Solvi - sounds like something you might buy in Screwfix
Aurélia = prettyy but a bit too frilly for me

Cbeebiesrehab · 14/01/2019 13:45

I have an Effie, never had anything but positive comments IRL, although it is a bit marmite on here.

Nursiemum27 · 14/01/2019 16:46

@cbeebiesrehab glad to know it gets goo dreaction irl. Have loved it since I heard it

Love Rosa and Effie, I know 2 lovely little girls in my children's classes that are named those names so maybe that is why. Definitely think the child makes the name, I've hated a few at first hearing them but as they grow up and into their name I nearly always change my mind. Rosa is on my list x
