Blane
My DH and I like the name for our second son. It is a catholic saints name. Just worried that it is a bit too bonkers!!

Prefer it without the 'i'. Too American soap star. (I am American.)

3out · 13/01/2019 20:40

I know three Blaines. I like it

CosmicComet · 13/01/2019 20:45

I don’t mind Blaine. It’s very American though.

CoffeeRunner · 13/01/2019 20:48

I much prefer Blake.

Blane is a bit - well - plain.

Nativityriot · 13/01/2019 20:51

Not unheard of in ireland

carben · 13/01/2019 21:06

There's a NZ rugby player in Wales called Blade.

DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2019 21:47

It's OK. It's better spelled Blaine.

YoMommasMomma · 13/01/2019 22:00

Thank you so much for all your thoughts. We love it and you have helped with our concerns about it being too bonkers! Now we just need to decide on the spelling. I or no I?!

With an I. And I'd assume that you were a Glee fan.

YoMommasMomma · 13/01/2019 22:05

Lol no never watched Glee!

I quite like it, seems fair enough to me.

hippipotamiwantstoloseapound · 13/01/2019 22:53

Do had a school friend called Blane. Said Blane is coming up for 20.
Not bonkers!

hippipotamiwantstoloseapound · 13/01/2019 22:53

Ds!

Cosmoa · 13/01/2019 23:11

Don't like it.. But I like Blake which is very similar!

elQuintoConyo · 13/01/2019 23:15

Pretty in Pink sprang to my mind - in a good way!

I like the spelling Blaine.

Also a pp mentioned Bllake - that's nice I love William Blake's poetry and art.

DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2019 23:19

I love Blake, which is weird as I don't normally like surnames as first names, but I think it's fab.

DulcetMoans · 13/01/2019 23:21

Yeah I'm with the pretty in pink crowd!

ILoveChristmasLights · 13/01/2019 23:22

I immediately thought of Dunblane, then thought it was a bit weird to think of that, so I was both surprised and pleased others did too. Still odd though.

Anyway, tbh, I don’t like it, but it’s not ‘out there’ at all. I’d definitely spell it with the ‘i’ as many of us thought Dunblane and I’m sure that was simply the spelling.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/01/2019 23:25

I like it. Blaine is more feminine IMO than Blane.

MissLadyM · 13/01/2019 23:36

I really like it but spell it Blaine

donttakethebiscuit · 13/01/2019 23:41

It’s not my taste but I don’t think it’s bonkers!

Crimebustersofthesea · 13/01/2019 23:44

I like it. It does make me think of the guy in glee but not in a bad way! It's a nice name.

OllyBJolly · 14/01/2019 00:02

It's very American

Blane was a Scottish saint .

I know several Blanes at different ages (in Scotland). Good name.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/01/2019 14:41

I love the name Blaine. But definitely use the 'i'.

CreakyBlinder · 14/01/2019 14:49

I prefer Blaine. Also like Blaith - used to work with a nice Scottish Blaith.
