Mee-la or my-la?

Mela would be Mel-a

Mila is Mi-la (like Milan without the n)

Myla is My-la

Squiddley28 · 18/04/2019 10:15

M-eye-luh

Saharasunset · 18/04/2019 22:24

I would personally say ‘Mee-lah’, however I know someone who spells it Mila for the ‘Myla’ pronunciation

GlitterPixie · 18/04/2019 22:26

Meela

girlsname · 19/04/2019 06:06

I'd pronounce it Miller. I've only heard it said that way and never met a Mee-la so that sounds odd to me

JenniferJareau · 19/04/2019 06:12

Mee la

The only Myla I know is spelt, well Myla Grin

ChristinaMarlowe · 19/04/2019 06:18

DD1 is 7 and a Milla, pronounced Miller, like Milla Jovavich. I say Mila is Mee-la like Mila Kunis.

ChristinaMarlowe · 19/04/2019 06:18

*I'd

stellarfox · 19/04/2019 06:23

Mee la like Mila Kunis

NoNoNoOohmaybe · 19/04/2019 07:28

Ours is pronounced Gary. It's unusual but we like it.

LittleMissMummaBear · 19/04/2019 11:46

I would say Mee-la for Mila, and my-la for Myla. Mila is a lovely name x

PetraRabbit · 19/04/2019 12:16

Mee-la. I know a couple. It's Eastern European so I think the vowel can be slightly longer or shorter so it sounds more like Mill-a. But not My- la which I'd write Myla. I've found a similar issue with Lila - another recently popular name which I assumed would be Lee-la but I heard recently of a Lila pronounced Ly-la.

PetraRabbit · 19/04/2019 12:19

Actually ChristinaMarlowe above is correct. The double ll makes it Mill-a.

Bumblebeesmum · 19/04/2019 16:05

Myla or Meela depending on what the parent wants
Lucia can be pronounced in an anglicised way or original way - I’d see it similarly

missmouse101 · 19/04/2019 16:08

Meela. It's horrible. Mealy mealy ugly sound.

spaniorita · 19/04/2019 16:19

My la

SoupDragon · 19/04/2019 16:21

The OP posted this inJanuary.

Charlottejbt · 19/04/2019 16:33

Mee-la but I speak French so tend to go to that pronunciation. (said Pree-mark for years!)

Lol, me too! Most of the world is probably on our side though.

I think the Myla spelling/pronunciation (rhymes with tiler) is potentially unfortunate because it's an underwear brand.

I might have used the names Laura or Claudia but I find the English pronunciation less appealing than the Italian, and it would be annoying to correct people all the time. Don't get me started on Aurora pronounced Orora: it's not that it's wrong if you're English, but it does sound really awkward.

FindaPenny · 19/04/2019 17:01

I would only ever pronounce it Mill ah.... I would spell it myla if I wanted it pronounced that way.

barryfromclareisfit · 19/04/2019 17:06

I’m late, sorry. Mila is ‘Miller’. Myla is ‘Miler’ like ‘smiler’. Meela is ‘Mealer’, the wheeler-dealer.

Gosh, I’m later than I thought, if this is a zombie. What did you call her, OP?
