Love Emmeline and Elora.
Elora is from that 80s movie 'Willow', right?

I like Aurelia and Amelie and Eleanor.

Also:
Elodie
Seraphina
Ciara
Seona
Marnie

I like Emmeline and Harriet best from your list - they're both names of strong women from history and avoid the 'uh' or 'a' ending which so many girls names favour.

Amelie, like Amelia and Emilia has been popular round here for the past ten years.

CarolinenotCarolyn · 16/01/2019 06:11

Amelie - Lovely, nice name.
Aurelia - Love it!
Celine - Ok
Emmeline - Ok, quite nice.
Emma - Ok
Elora - Not keen
Eleanora - I like it, but really prefer Eleanor.
Harriet - Like

mumofbun · 16/01/2019 10:51

Amelie - Love!
Aurelia - Am i the only one who thinks of areola?
Celine - Handbag
Emmeline - i like this and also emmy for short
Emma - Classic can't go wrong
Elora - Never heard it before, sounds odd
Eleanora - Old fashioned
Harriet - not keen and doesn't seem to go with others on your list

DoveGreylove · 16/01/2019 20:32

It's been interesting reading everyone's replies- thank you!

I didn't deliberately create a list of names that would go with each other, they just happened to be names I like. So Harriet was in there as I like it and I like the nickname Hattie :)

I adore Ophelia, Seraphina and Isadora but DH said no way as they are too flouncy... (As is Aurelia in his opinion).

I also like:
Isabella
Emelie
Sofia

I am looking for something classic, that isn't too "flouncy" (to please the DH) but it can't be Victoria, Alexandra, Penelope, Theodora, Adeline, Evelyn, Esme, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Amelia. All these names are taken by friends/family and I'm adamant not to re-use a name.

This is so difficult!! There has to be the magic name out there somewhere! Xx

Did I suggest Marina?
Or how about
Clementine or
Mary or
Xenia or
Phillipa or
Natalia or
Lydia or
Christina/Cristina or
Daniela or
Eleanor/Elinor?

I think Isabella, Sofia/Sophia or Emelie from your list.
What does DH think or like?
Also be careful of initials of first name + surname too e.g you don't want an SOS, SS, ASS, VD, BJ, COW etc

I imagine your head must be swimming?
How look have you got to go till baby arrives?

  1. Amelie - nice enough but fairly popular sounding
1.Aurelia - gorgeous, such an elegant, classical, yet exotic name
  1. Celine - unless you are French, I much prefer the lovely original Selene
  2. Emmeline - very pretty but strong thanks to a great namesake
  3. Emma - classic and popular (but I prefer similar Anna personally)
  4. Elora - very pretty, but does look a bit fantasy/made up.
  5. Eleanora - a little frilly, I prefer Eleanor or Helena
  6. Harriet - classic but not my taste (a bit horsey)

You might also like Julia/Juliet, Octavia, Claudia, Diana, Antonia, Alicia, Laura, Sylvie/Sylvia, Athena, Christabel or Lara/Larissa.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 01/01/2021 23:05

Amelie - okay, feels dated
Aurelia - lovely but a bit of a mouthful
Celine - beautiful and underused
Emmeline - lovely and cool namesake
Emma - cute and vintage to some, dull to others. Personally i like it
Elora - i don't like it really, a bit nothingey
Eleanora - love it! A bit OTT but in a good way
Harriet - love it! And love nn Hettie

I'd cjoose Harriet, Celine or Eleanora
