Alexandra?

We have found out we are expecting DD2. We have a DS (Max).
We are trying to choose a girls name that:
Is international (we have family across Europe)
Is strong (I know that one is hard to define)
Would suit them as they got older
Goes with Max

We have settled (pretty much) on Alexandra. Would probably try to stick with Alexandra from birth and then see what nn she liked either Alex, Lexi etc.

What do people think of 'Alexandra'? It's so much harder finding a name for a girl this time around. I don't know why.

Alex and Max might be a bit too x heavy together?

How about Antonia?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/01/2019 13:32

I like it, strong name- doesn't really get overly popular or fade, its quite consistent in that respect. I also like the many options of shortened versions.

@tammytoby thank you - I hadn't thought of Antonia. I quite like that too. I will mention it to DH. I don't much like 'Toni' as a short version tho. Weirdly, I thought about the 'x' thing and it made me think 'it would connect their names' - but maybe it's weird!

Choosinganame · 09/01/2019 13:55

It's a gorgeous name, one of the best classic names IMO.
The X thing is neither here nor there. If anything it's quite a nice link.

I would never ask about baby names on here as one person will try to put you off a particular name!

However, Alexandra is beautiful and so strong in its own right.

Congratulations Thanks

Thank you.
I did think that before I posted, but I feel quite 'easy' about it, at this stage I'm not fully in love with it yet.
Thanks for your comments tho, that's really lovely.

SimplyPut · 09/01/2019 14:44

Beautiful and strong. Could be 'ex' heavy with Max.

Antonia, Bridget and Adaya are all strong and beautiful too.

pilates · 09/01/2019 17:45

Love it ❤️

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/01/2019 18:01

I have an Alexandra and 8 years on I struggled to name DD2 as I couldn't find anything which I felt matched up to it. I love the flexibility - DD1 is Lexi at the moment but she can and doubtless will change that as she grows.

NatashaRomanov · 09/01/2019 19:41

It is a gorgeous name. And there's so many 'shorts' from it that your daughter can pick from in the future.

Beeziekn33ze · 09/01/2019 19:55

Lovely name, great abbreviations, goes well with Max. What's not to like?

LowbrowVictoriana · 09/01/2019 23:46

Fantastic name, my favourite girls’ name. So strong and elegant.

My DD (now 23) tells me she loves being one.

Gumball54 · 10/01/2019 13:10

Really nice. Alex and Max are maybe a bit similar but I think it’s fine.

Nonameyet1 · 12/01/2019 11:50

Lovely name - definitely go for it.

Astronica · 12/01/2019 13:39

A great name. Strong and lots of short forms, and I like some of the more unusual ones such as Andra, Andy, Sasha, Lexa. I love it used as a full name too and not always shortened.

TidyDancer · 12/01/2019 14:35

It's a very beautiful name. Goes well with Max.

MsJuniper · 12/01/2019 14:38

Its lovely. It might set off Alexa if that bothers you.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2019 14:38

I love it, beautiful, elegant, classic & international.

Cazastrophe · 13/01/2019 16:18

I like Alexandra but not sure if it goes with Max if Max is his full name.

A shorter girl’s name would be better.
