We have a George... I've seen plenty of negative opinions on here about it, but just so it doesn't influence thoughts, we didn't choose it because it was popular, I decided on it when I was 12 and it stuck. I still love it all these years later... and I actually don't know any others, he's also the only one in his entire nursery.

So anyway, we have a George. We are expecting number 2... we could pick a boys name if it came to it, girls we are stuck!

I've posted before that I love Florence, DH says no, he loves Olivia.. but contrary to the George thing, Olivia is a lovely name but we do know loooaaads in the varieties of Olivia, Alivia, Livi, Olive.

Same with that he loves Amelia, again, I think it's a lovely name, but we have a niece called Mia and a cousin called Millie. And it's sooooo popular. Too close isn't it?

The names Anya and Rosie keep coming back to me. DH loves Rosie, I don't know if it's a bit much as will be alliteration with surname. Surname starts with an R and includes two S's.

What are people's thoughts on Anya and Rosie?

Does Anya go with George? I know George is predominantly Greek, but is well known in England. I believe Anya is Russian?

Anya Rose?

What about Rosie? What middle name would go nicely?

How about Rosanna, Rosina, or Rosalie?

Or Rosemary or Romy?

You could use Rosie as a nn.

They might not be as rhymey with the surname.

I agree with you about Olivia and Amelia - lovely names but very popular, and Amelia is indeed too close to Millie and Mia.

I don't think Anya goes with George. Anna or Annie or Annabel yes, Anya no.

Vanannabananna · 08/01/2019 14:56

We have a George so I agree it’s an excellent choice! His little sister is called Kate. We also had Hannah, verify and Rose in the list.

I like Anya and Rosie. Both pretty names. What about Anya rose? The Rosie’s I know have May,Jane and Harriet as middle names.

Vanannabananna · 08/01/2019 14:56

Verity not verify!

I like both Anya and Rosie! George and Rosie are adorable together

So something like Rosie Rossiter, Rosie Russell... I'm not loving it tbh. I do like Rosie when it's short for Rosanna or something but not with that sort of surname.

Anya is very pretty. Don't know if it 'goes' with George as such but I don't think it matters. Anya Rose is also nice but Rose is just such a filler middle name.

LauraMipsum · 08/01/2019 16:06

I really like the sound of Rosie Rossiter or Rosie Russell.

George and Rosie go really well together. I know a delightful 4yo Rosie so I'm probably swayed by that!

Ipanema01 · 08/01/2019 16:31

I like Rosie, or Rose is so underused as a first name I think. It goes perfectly with George and timeless :)
I don't really like Anya, sorry!

SPR1107 · 08/01/2019 16:34

The more I think about it, the more I really am liking Rosie.

George and Rosie

Doesn't make anyone think Rosie and Jim does it?

I much prefer Rose to Rosie.

Mousewithascarf · 08/01/2019 16:37

I like Anya a lot and like Anya Rose together. Also love Rose as a first name too. I think both go well well with George. Anya is a Russian name and George is also popular in Russia (Georgy).

Shadow1234 · 08/01/2019 16:58

I really love Anya and think it goes really well with George.

Not keen on Rosie, but do like Rosa as an alternative.

MamaDane · 08/01/2019 17:01

Prefer Rose to Rosie and Anya is really nice.

Rose, nn Rosie

wizzler · 09/01/2019 07:12

I love Rosie but might sound a bit twee with your surname. How about Lucy?

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2019 07:14

Anya

But is there a different middle name you could go with, nearly every thread these days has Rose as the middle name

TheMythicalChicken · 09/01/2019 07:16

Rosie!

Instamom · 09/01/2019 07:49

How about Rosa?
I think Rosie is more of a nickname

fleshmarketclose · 09/01/2019 08:00

I have a Rosie, she is 23 now and it is a name that has grown with her and best of all she loves her name and always has. She has never allowed anyone to call her Rose, she is always Rosie.

PaintingOwls · 09/01/2019 08:01

Rosemary nn Rosie?

lifeofamummy · 09/01/2019 21:24

Annarose and Rosalie are beautiful names and lovely long alternatives to Rosie or Rose!
