Am i mad?

Expecting fourth boy in three weeks. Have a Joe, Jake and Josh and this baby will be Jude.
The others have middle names taken from my husband or close male relatives. All nice modern names. Have ran out of male relatives names that I like and we are struggling to agree on a middle name. Problem is that they all seem a bit random as have no special meaning behind them.
My husband nicknamed me Blue when we first met and it's always stuck. Lots of friends now call it me and if they don't, they know it's my nickname.
Would I be mad to use this as middle name?
I'm a bit of a self confessed hippy so I love it, husband is not a hippy in the slightest but also loves it has meaning. I must add too that this pregnancy has almost killed me with hyperemesis, have really suffered from start to finish and at one point nearly had to terminate as was so poorly, so seems fitting in a way.
I've also seen two other spellings, Bleu and bleau, would this make a difference? I'm not French in any way which puts me off, but do think they look a bit more masculine!
Honest opinions please!

I think the meaning behind it is very sweet.

Still not sure if Jude Blue goes though. Sorry!

Gazelda · 07/01/2019 20:03

I think it's a lovely name for you to use. I'd stick with the 'Blue' spelling, otherwise you're watering down it's meaning.

overmydeadbody · 07/01/2019 20:04

I'd go for it, but I'd spell it blue.

But all my children have very unusual first names and more mainstream middle names!Grin

arsearsearse · 07/01/2019 20:04

Blue is a lovely name, and it has a lovely meaning for your family. Middle names don’t ever get used apart from by family anyway. I can imagine it being passed down for generations. Keep the spelling English. Congrats!

comebacksoonsusan · 07/01/2019 20:05

Use Blue.

Do you not find it trickier to get names right when they start with the same letter?

daisypond · 07/01/2019 20:17

Blue is fine.

Choosinganame · 07/01/2019 20:17

I love your naming theme! All great names.
I think Jude Blue is cool and goes well together but it is a little bit embarrassing for him to have his dad's pet name for his mum as a middle name.
He doesn't have to tell people though and middle names are rarely used.
Def use Blue and not Bleu!

MiddleClassProblem · 07/01/2019 20:23

You both like it and it’s significant! Go for it and don’t let anyone else put off.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/01/2019 20:29

Blue is great and goes beautifully with Jude, even without the lovely reason you have for using it. Bleu less so; without a French connection it seems a bit pretentious. Bleau is just odd. Sorry, but I suspect it will look like a spelling mistake to most people who see it.

Cosmoa · 07/01/2019 20:34

Go for it!

mistermagpie · 07/01/2019 20:37

I do think it's a bit weird - I mean, blue isn't a name for one thing, but also to have his dad's pet name for his mum as a middle name? I'm not sure. I wouldn't like that if it was me to be honest. Like if my name was Mister Babycakes Magpie because that's what my mum called my dad...

pictish · 07/01/2019 20:40

Honest opinion...I like the sentiment but don’t think it flows well with Jude.

Princesspeachy0 · 07/01/2019 20:45

I love it and think it's really sweet.
I agree with a PP about it being past down for generations!

So sorry to hear about ur HG, awful!

ThanksItHasPockets · 07/01/2019 20:45

I’m not sure if ‘bleau’ is a typo but just in case - the French spelling of the colour is ‘bleu’. ‘Bleau’ isn’t a word but if it were it would be pronounced like ‘blow’.

moredoll · 07/01/2019 20:50

I love Jude and I love the idea but I don't think Jude Blue really works.
Maybe a shade of blue? Indigo?

Til89 · 07/01/2019 21:07

Jude Blue. Sounds ok and a nice meaning. I used to have a neighbour called Blue.

SilverySurfer · 07/01/2019 21:35

I'm intrigued. if you've got four boys all with first names beginning with the same letter, when they are older and start receiving mail, if six letters arrive all addressed to Mr J [last name], how will anyone know who the letters are for?

Oh and I'm not very keen on Jude Blue and I really don't understand why you would use Bleu if you have no French connection.

DressingGownPlease · 07/01/2019 22:35

Jude is such a lovely name OP.

I would go for Blue spelt like this as the middle name. As Bleu is not pronounced the same.

CoffeeRunner · 07/01/2019 22:39

I love Blue! Especially with your meaning behind it.

I wouldn’t personally choose Jude (too close to rude) but think the names blend well enough - possibly depending on accent!

Congratulations!

Mossyhill · 07/01/2019 22:42

I know an adult called blue. I think it’s quite cool.

SophieSellerman · 07/01/2019 22:44

I normally have no truck with yewnieeque names, but I would say in this case that it's lovely, given its history, and that you should go with Blue as a middle name. He would be a lucky boy. Congrats on expecting your DS4.

Santaisfastasleepatlast · 07/01/2019 22:47

My dd's friend is Skye Blu.
Anything goes ime!!

PenelopeFlintstone · 07/01/2019 22:49

Blue is a common nickname for redheads where I live and so doesn't seem too strange as a name - especially a middle name. Spell it Blue, though.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/01/2019 22:50

I think it's a nice idea. Middle names can be a bit different OP.

Do it.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 07/01/2019 22:51

Hopefully he won’t be an arsenal or Utd fan 😂
