Juliet.

Reaa · 06/01/2019 19:24

Francis to me is a boys name so Juliet would be my choice.

SPR1107 · 06/01/2019 19:27

Frances

daisypond · 06/01/2019 19:28

Frances is fabulous, one of my favourite names for a girl - classic and not cutesy. The boy's name is Francis. I like Juliet very much as well, though.

Sranso · 06/01/2019 19:28

That's because Francis is a boy's name. Frances is a girl's name.

newtlover · 06/01/2019 19:30

Frances

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 06/01/2019 19:30

Frances is a girl's name and Francis is the boy's equivalent.

Spare the child a lifetime of having people confused about spelling or girl/boy or have a name that's unequivocally 'girly'.

Your choice.

Barneyandfelix1 · 06/01/2019 19:30

I love Juliet

InfiniteVariety · 06/01/2019 19:32

How does each sound with the surname?

greendale17 · 06/01/2019 19:36

Juliet

TheRedFox · 06/01/2019 19:47

How about using Frances as a middle name so Juliet Frances?

coffeeandrainbows · 06/01/2019 19:50

Love Frances!

Juliet is pretty and more feminine I think but Frances (Frankie is an adorable nn) is more unique.

Santaisfastasleepatlast · 06/01/2019 19:51

Love Frances, nn Frankie, Fran
Juliet will likely become Jules (shudders).

angelopal · 06/01/2019 19:52

Juliet

SoyDora · 06/01/2019 19:53

Juliet, although I like Frances too

Galvantula · 06/01/2019 19:53

I prefer Juliet.

I don't mind Frances though, it's a relative's name. She's never been abbreviated or nicknamed that I know of though. Smile

CormoranStrike · 06/01/2019 19:53

Both are beautiful, I would go for Juliet Frances

MikeUniformMike · 06/01/2019 20:20

I prefer Frances. Don't like Jules or people saying Juliet as Jooly-ETTE.

vivivienne · 06/01/2019 20:35

MikeUniformMike how are you supposed to say it?
I much prefer Frances, find Juliet a bit wet and drippy

Dogsmellssobadbob · 06/01/2019 20:36

Don’t like Juliet and Jools is awful

Love frances and love Fran or frankie

Notveryadventurousname · 06/01/2019 20:44

Juliet is pretty, classic and underused. How about trying Lia as a sort of nn if you want to avoid Jules or Jude?

Frances is ok, but a bit leaden in comparison. The possible male female comparison would put me off ( same with Lesley/ Leslie and to me is from same era). You'd also have two pronunciations going on - Northern and Southern versions. Surely that will convince your DH ( at least to shunt it to the middle name!)

IVflytrap · 06/01/2019 22:08

Frances is my favourite of the two, although Juliet is nice too.

I agree with Mike regarding pronunciation.

I think if emphasising the last syllable, it should be spelt Juliette.

yikesanotherbooboo · 06/01/2019 22:26

I love both but Frances edges it.

notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits · 06/01/2019 22:45

Adore Frances!!

nocluenoidea · 06/01/2019 22:52

Juliet
