Hi. New here-looking for names similar to Gabriel. It’s my favourite name but unfortunately my husband hates it and won’t consider it :(

I have a Gabriel, also Roan and Fynn.

That’s a shame, it’s such a lovely name.

I love Gabriel but DH absolutely refused to even consider it. We chose Nathaniel as a middle name which is as close as I could get!!! Fabulous name though.

I love Gabriel too, I think because I imagine it's a gentle name? Is there no swaying your husband? How about Daniel or Dominic

Lovely name, my ex husband also refused it.

I think if it’s a real no from your husband then you need to think about what names you do like which are the same, rather than how to try and force him to agree.

I didn’t get my first choice for my daughter. Her father didn’t get his either. What she got was a name we both liked a lot and suited her from the moment she was born.

I don’t like my “first choice” name from my pregnancy at all now.

My boy (If I have one) will be Gabriel. Its a shame your DH has vetoed it.

I think the Gay part worries some parents, but I honestly don't think its an issue at all as Its very popular now. Therefore just a run of the mill name.

thank you, lots of names to consider. None as wonderful as Gabriel but I guess I’ll hsve to compromise :(

I have a Gabriel 'Gabe' and we love love love it. We have had complete strangers coming up to us over the years telling what a beautiful, cool name it is.

The 'gay' part is beyond ridiculous. I mean really. I hear my son's friends saying Gabriel or Gabe and I never tire of it. My son loves his name too. We have a strong middle and surname.

Following this thread as I love Gabriel too and DH has vetoed. There have been a number of cool tv characters recently called Gabriel and I think Gabe is a great nickname. I think it’s the religious connotations that put him off

I've got a Gabe and still love it. But if I hadn't used Gabriel I'd have liked Xavier (with a hard 'z', nn Zav) or Nathaniel.
