Ellia

Ellia... pronounced ell-Lee-ya .
To me it sounds like a made up name (I know it’s not).
But feels like Ellie with an added “a” at the end. Or a made up name from ellie/eliana/eliana.

My question is... does the name Lilia have the same feel as ellia. A “made up” name from lily/Lillian/Liliana.

I just want to understand how people view this name. Is it on par.

are Ellia and Lilia equal?

Never heard of Ellia so would assume it is made up. Don’t like it sorry. I have heard of Lilia.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 30/12/2018 14:13

I know one, she’s only 2. Never heard it anywhere else we are in Scotland

champagneduvin · 30/12/2018 14:27

@MrsFoxPlus4 do you know one ellia or one Lilia?

Ellia looks and sounds made up. Ellie or Ella are ok.
Elia is a boy's name.
Lilia is on other threads atm

anatol · 30/12/2018 15:59

Elia is an Italian boy's name.

JennyHolzersGhost · 30/12/2018 16:01

Excessive vowels.

anatol · 30/12/2018 16:03

I've met an Alia before though (girl) which I think is lovely.

NannyR · 30/12/2018 16:07

Ellia looks made up to me, I've never heard it used before. It looks like someone couldn't decide between ellie or ella so "blended" them to make an unusual name.
Lilia, to me, is a classic, timeless, well known name, very different vibe than ellia.

SoyDora · 30/12/2018 16:08

I know one Ellia and one Lillia (both around 5). Yes they both have the same ‘feel’ to me.

RavenWings · 30/12/2018 16:25

All of the blandness of Ella while also managing to sound like a yuneek name made up by a Mormon mommy blogger. Hell no.

Laurasimone · 30/12/2018 17:17

Elia - is also a uni-sex Hebrew name

foxtiger · 30/12/2018 18:44

I'm not sure if Lilia was ever considered "made up" but I've certainly heard it a few times before.

Ellia sounds pretty, IMO, but I think other people would sometimes pronounce it more like Ell-ya and that puts me off a bit. It would also be mistaken for Ella or Ellie a lot as others have said.

YouSetTheTone · 30/12/2018 22:36

I haven’t come across the name Lillia before, either a person or through books/ films etc (not that I can recall anyway!)
I don’t think it sounds quite as ‘made up’ as Ellia but with the current vogue for Eva/ Ava/ Isla type names plus the popularity of ‘Lily’ I think it does slightly feel as if someone is trying to merge the two trends together.
Having said that it’s a pretty name. Does it go well with your surname?

YouSetTheTone · 30/12/2018 22:37

*Lilia!
Sorry.

NooMe · 30/12/2018 23:10

I agree that it's as bland as Ella and trying oh so hard to be yoonique.

sassolino · 30/12/2018 23:15

Lilia or Lilya is a Russian name.

1sttimeDD · 30/12/2018 23:16

I went to school with an Ellia in the 90s!

Coldtoes28 · 31/12/2018 01:19

I thought this was a typo and you were asking about Ellis. Never heard of Ellia. Think it lacks substance.

tammytoby · 31/12/2018 06:59

Every single name was once made up.

Ellia and Lilia both sound pretty. But Elia is a boys name.

TatianaLarina · 31/12/2018 08:10

Every single name was once made up.

To think that you’d have to have no grasp of language at all.

Kokeshi123 · 31/12/2018 13:03

Sorry but I think it sounds weird and boring at the same time. You will constantly have to correct people who confuse it with Elle, Ellie, Lily, Lilia and all the other very popular names which sound vaguely similar.
