Baby girl shortlist

We’re expecting our third child in spring, already have a boy and a girl both have traditional names. I wanted opinions on our current shortlist for girls names (don’t know the sex but girls causing most conflict!). What do you prefer and why out of the following? Penelope, Nancy and Claudia?

They’re all nice names. I think Nancy is my favourite.

I love the name Penelope, Pen and Penny are lovely nns if her friends at school shorten it. What's not to like?

Don’t think I’m any closer as it’s such a varied response! Main observation is that no one has said they don’t like Claudia but the other two names draw more extreme opinions! It’s so hard! I love my dds name and get so many lovely comments on it it’s hard to match one to it that I love as much!

K80hughes I think Alice is a beautiful name - that would be my favourite of the two you mention.

Claudia is lovely! I think at the end of the day you have to go with your gut.

My sister in law and close friend were both due this month and have had their babies, luckily two boys! But I've thought, what if they chose Alice, how would I feel. Have to say, I'd have been very gutted! So I think Alice is the name for me. Think if you couldn't have the name, which one you'd be most upset about??

Claudia is very nice. Penelope is cute. Nancy is horrid in my opinion.

I think Claudia is the nicest.
Nancy is a bit old and a name I associate with quite dull, average people. Sorry to any Nancys.
The only Penelopys I know are older and don't go by that name. One uses her middle name and so do her parents!
The others only go by Penny.

Nancy by far.

I intensely dislike Penelope - was at school with a few. Penny is a ghastly dowdy diminutive.

I’ve always found Claudia ugly, again I know a few. Claud is an ungainly dim.

There are much more attractive Roman female names - Aurelia Antonia, Tatiana, Cassia, Livia.

Nancy - kick ass pirate (Ruth)

Alice - also kickass

I like Penelope with Penny as a nickname, I also think Nancy is quite a nice name too.

Thanks for everyone’s input! Names will always divide opinion but on the whole you’ve reassured me that whichever we choose it’s a nice name! You’ve also shown my husband that Claudia is in fact s pretty name and not a harsh sounding name so thank you! After all this it’ll be a boy now! 😍

I really like Claudia and Nancy but not keen on Penelope, sorry. The down sides for me are that Nancy seems quite popular at the moment and the lack of good nicknames for Claudia. Claudia and Nancy are gorgeous though.

I love Claudia. I wanted it but dh doesn’t like it.

My cousin is Claudia Maria and it is beautiful, never met another. Don’t like the others at all too frilly
