Due imminently and can't decide on (girls) names!

Due during the Christmas period and still mulling over names, please help!

So we think we have decided on Annabel but not 100%. Suggestions for similar welcome! We like names that can be shortened and are pretty but not faddy.

Then there's the issue of middle names. We'll be choosing 2 middle names, derived from family members (not looking for opinions on this as a general idea thanks, I know some posters are against this idea but we are set on this as it's a family tradition). The options for middle names are Kathleen plus either Jean or Iris. I'm thinking Annabel Iris Kathleen. Thoughts??

I like it, but think Annabel Kathleen Iris flows better.

ZebraKid71 · 21/12/2018 20:36

My dd also has two middle names, one from either side of the family. I think it's really lovely.

lancslass17 · 21/12/2018 20:39

Alexandra was my name if we had a girl but now have a lovely little Alfred.

Alexandra jean (lots of things to shorten including AJ)

I love Arabella but Annabel is a great name. I would say Felicity and Alexandra are similar

The middle names you have picked are good, love Iris.

TheBubGrower · 21/12/2018 20:51

tobykins I love loads of those names! But lots of them vetoed by my OH 🙄 Madeline would have been top for me but he thinks it's too memorable for obvious sad reasons. I think our children's generation won't have heard of that Madeline!

We were considering elisabeth for a while but I really don't like Lizzie or Liz and I think it's likely other people might shorten it to that. I also love Evie but OH doesn't want to officially register her with a shortened name and we don't like Evelyn/ Evangeline etc! Also I thought Evelyn with a combination of those middle names is a bit too much of old fashioned names. Aargh! It's hard isn't it ??!

I really like Annabel. Annabel Kathleen Iris would be lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 21/12/2018 21:26

I think Annabel Kathleen Iris flows better than Annabel Iris Kathleen, but both are nice. I'd go with whichever way round sounds best with the surname.

eatyourveg · 21/12/2018 21:32

Iris Kathleen Annabel flows best imo

thighofrelief · 22/12/2018 00:53

Kathleen and Jean rhyme so better to go with Iris.

Annabelle/a is lovely but not so keen on the nn Annie which I think would give me pause for thought.

How about Rebecca or Juliet?

Plaiceholder · 22/12/2018 01:09

Paitence.

swimmerforlife · 22/12/2018 02:32

I prefer it be spelt Annabelle, and I believe it's the most popular spelling currently. Annabel seems a bit more dated to me.

RestingButchFace · 22/12/2018 02:45

Robyn
Eirlys (welsh for snowdrop) say it hayer liss without the h

MumUnderTheMoon · 22/12/2018 09:15

Arabella
James
Francesca
Meredith
Emily
Robyn
Noelle
Avery ( means Christmas elf)
Winter
Some of these are a bit unusual but would perhaps balance well with the lovely middle names.

YerAuntFanny · 22/12/2018 09:24

Francesca Jean Iris (Fran/Frances/Frankie/Ches)

Louisa Kathleen Iris (Lou)

Astronica · 22/12/2018 09:44

Great name. Stick with Annabel Iris Kathleen! This order sounds best, and this spelling of Annabel is best.

somewhereovertherain · 22/12/2018 09:47

We’ve got a Madeleine and can safely say there’s no association or stigma linked to McCann

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/12/2018 09:51

Something Festive would be lovely.
Do you like 'Natalie' It means born at Christmas.
Other festive name ideas for girls
Mary/Maria.
Josephine
Holly
Nicole
Christine
Gabrielle/a

Reaa · 22/12/2018 09:58

Kathiris as a middle name

TheBubGrower · 22/12/2018 16:18

Thanks for all the suggestions. Some really lovely names on here but nothing quite competing with Annabel yet, which I think is a good sign it may be the name for us! Much prefer the spelling Annabel than Annabelle, the latter seems too fussy to me. I do love the name Madeleine somewhere, and I did think my oH was talking nonsense! Maddy is lovely too.

For shortening Annabel we like Annie, Belle or Bella

What about Constance? Quite a classic name but not very common and can be nn Connie
