How would you spell Layla Mae?

Today is the only day I can write the cards for DS1's class at nursery so I don't have time to ask the teachers for a list. He is keen to send cards havig received a few. We have come up with a list with the correct number of children on so hopefully have remembered everyone, but not sure of all spellings. Do you think it is most likely to be:

  1. Layla Mae
  2. Layla May
  3. Some other variation?
And should I put in a hyphen or not? I know it doesn't matter too much but I'd like the highest chance of getting it right. Thanks

Snowwontbelong · 17/12/2018 14:01

To Santa's little helper from op's ds!! 😂

MrsCar · 17/12/2018 14:04

My guess would be Layla-May, but really, it could be

although 'Mae' is very common too

ViragoKnows · 17/12/2018 14:04

Leila May

Ohyesiam · 17/12/2018 14:05

Laila Mai

ViragoKnows · 17/12/2018 14:06

Actually no, if its one of those dreadful double barrelled christian names, its more likely to be hyphenated with May spelt “Mae”. Laylah/Layla/Leila is anybody’s guess though.

MrsCar · 17/12/2018 14:07

It could be 'mai' also, that should say

tryinganewname · 17/12/2018 14:11

As you've put it in your title is how I would spell it

daisypond · 17/12/2018 14:21

I'd go for Layla May. I'd always go for the most "acceptable to all" spellings. So don't hyphenate or put Mae. It's the least likely to offend if you get it wrong.

ZebraKid71 · 17/12/2018 21:21

I'd go with your title. Can you ask any of the other mom's? Or search laylas mom on Facebook and see if it says!

RCohle · 17/12/2018 21:27

Layla-Mae would be my guess

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/12/2018 21:27

If the child uses both names I would think it's Layla-Mae Wink

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 17/12/2018 21:30

How I spelt it would depend on the parents...

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 17/12/2018 21:30

Ask another school mum?

cloudtree · 17/12/2018 21:31

Leila May

yerdadsellsavon · 17/12/2018 21:37

Laela-Mae

MaisyPops · 17/12/2018 21:39

My guess would be Layla-Mae or Leila-Mae. If she goes by both names then it will probably be hyphenated but it could also be one name like Leilamae (yes I've seen a few like that).

E20mom · 17/12/2018 21:40

Layla may

Sophronia · 17/12/2018 22:44

Hopefully not hyphenated with Mai

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 18/12/2018 12:32

Personally? If I were naming her, "Leila May".

In reality, I expect she's a "Layla-Mae".
