which do you prefer?

which do you think is more classic and timeless.

I dont care about popularity, it doesnt matter to me if its very popular.

which one is more known, and least likely to be mispronounced.

Many thanks!

My daughter is called amelie, she's 11. When she was born there were hardly any Amelie's, now it's very common.
Lillia is very pretty.

GandalfsRing · 15/12/2018 13:53

I love Amelie but do prefer Amelia.

Lilia is lovely too.

So, no help! Sorry

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 15/12/2018 13:54

I like both but Amelie is my favourite

Princesspeachy0 · 15/12/2018 14:04

Lilia is such a beautiful name

caffelatte100 · 15/12/2018 14:36

Both are lovely.

But how about Emelia or Amelia?

MumsKnitters · 15/12/2018 14:39

Lilia is more timeless simply because the current popularity of Amelie will therefore date it. If being timeless matters to you, then avoid popular.

SleepWarrior · 15/12/2018 14:51

I like both but prefer Lilia, plus it sounds less faddy and more classic.

Peachbubble · 15/12/2018 15:50

Amelie

daisypond · 15/12/2018 16:27

Amelie seems dated to me - and it's so associated with the film of 20 years ago. I also find it very twee and faddy, so the opposite of what you want. Lilia is much better - a little bland perhaps for my taste, but much more classic.

Greggers2017 · 15/12/2018 16:31

My amelie is named after the film and nobody has ever heard of it! 🤦🏼‍♀️

ArtisanPopcorn · 15/12/2018 17:07

Amelie had been popular since 2002, there are loads of them I personally would go with Lilia.

tammytoby · 15/12/2018 19:03

I agree - Amelie is already starting to sound dated. I know so so many Amelies and Amelias.

Lilia is beautiful and much more interesting!

NotANotMan · 15/12/2018 19:15

Amelie is the opposite of classic and timeless; its very much 'now' and will date. Lilia is nice.

Madmarchpear · 15/12/2018 19:23

Lilia is a tad too Eastern European gymnast for me. Amelie is nice. I always think its a name men would like in partner for some reason because its so light and feminine sounding. Not it that that should influence you in the slightest but they're my thoughts.

CloserIAm2Fine · 15/12/2018 19:48

Amelie feels trendy, and I don’t really like it (I like Amelia and Emily much better)

Lilia is more classic to me because it’s not trendy

Sophronia · 15/12/2018 21:08

Lilia

Discobabe98 · 15/12/2018 21:09

Lilia Halo

LovelyBranches · 15/12/2018 21:11

Lilia, Amelie is pretty and I have a young family member with the name but I think it would date quicker.

Cosmoa · 16/12/2018 00:24

@Greggers2017 I have! It's an amazing film. I love Yann Tierson too who composed the music 😍

Astronica · 16/12/2018 06:36

I prefer Amelie. It feels more classic to me. Lilia just blends into all the Lilys everywhere. Lilia also feels very fussy and hard to say.

RedDwarves · 16/12/2018 07:56

Lilia, but I prefer either Lily or Lillian.
