Narrowing down our list of girls names

OH and I really can't decide on names, just as we think we've narrowed it down we add another to our list.

Surname is a well known 2 syllable girls name beginning with F and we are using Louise as a middle name which has family connections throughout both of our families.

Any thoughts?
Connie
Effie (Elizabeth)
Isla
Ivy
Lexi
Lottie (Charlotte)

Would use Constance with nn Connie. Charlotte and Elizabeth are both lovely with your last name, I would use Josephine with nn Effie though.

Connie

Astronica · 10/12/2018 06:59

My favourites are Ivy and Lottie (with Charlotte on the bc).

I'm not a fan of Lexi, though I do like Alexandra and other nicknames. Isla just feels way over-used to me, and is not as good with mn Louise. Connie feels hard to me. I'm not keen at all on full name Constance, and don't like it with your surname, so would stick to Connie if you do use it. Effie/Elizabeth is okay.

Pinkkittens292 · 10/12/2018 09:21

I love Connie.
I think it works fine as a stand alone name. I wouldn't use Constance but that's just my opinion. x

Constance nn Connie. Really like.

Don’t like Effie or Lexi and Isla is very popular. Charlotte is classic but a bit meh imo.

MikeUniformMike · 10/12/2018 20:35

Connie - yes, Constance on bc
Effie (Elizabeth) - yuk to Effie, yes to Elizabeth
Isla - v popular so no
Ivy - no
Lexi no
Lottie (Charlotte) - yes

ernjas · 10/12/2018 21:33

Connie - don't like
Effie - I love it, but would probably spell it Effy
Isla - becoming too popular
Ivy - also becoming too popular but better than Isla
Lexi - it's okay but a bit chavvy (in my area). I'd probably like it if that wasn't my association
Lottie - too twee and don't like Charlotte

Highlowpo · 10/12/2018 23:07

Not a fan of Lexi, Isla or Ivy but the others are lovely. I know a 2 year old Constance and she's a sweetheart. Really suits her name and everyone says nice things about it (if you'd consider Constance on the bc and Connie as a nickname). I've not come across Effie as a nickname for Elizabeth before.

DramaAlpaca · 10/12/2018 23:07

I love Constance, nn Connie.

I really don't like Effie, but it's just about OK as a nn for Elizabeth or Josephine.

Lexi isn't my style either, but is OK as a nn for Alexandra.

Isla & Ivy are nice enough.

Charlotte nn Lottie is fine.

AuntieStella · 10/12/2018 23:14

Effie with an F surname use doesn't flow.

Elizabeth is a lovely name - do you like any other shortenings?

Lottie and Lexi are both fine as nns for Charlotte and Alexandra, but I'm far less keen on them as standalone.

Connie - ok but I'm not that wild about it. Ivy still makes me think if Coronation Street. Isla's nice

MrsFoxPlus4 · 11/12/2018 04:22

No need to name her Constance to use Connie it’s a lovely name. I like Isla best :)

BeanBagLady · 11/12/2018 04:28

Isla Louise doesn’t flow well.
