I like the name, but what do you guys think? I've never met anyone with just "Rissa" as a name yet, it was mostly a nickname for Marissa or Nerissa. Do you think it will age well when the child grows up?

It's not a name.

Makes me think of harrissa paste.

Icklepup · 10/12/2018 04:37

Makes me think rizla

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 10/12/2018 04:42

Why not the full name? No I wouldn't choose Rissa.

Missscarlett87 · 10/12/2018 04:51

Not keen at all

Snipples · 10/12/2018 05:10

It's short for Clarissa I thought. It's a bit like naming your baby Rach - it's not a name sorry.

Leah1127 · 10/12/2018 05:50

Aww so many negative comments. I guess I'll just have to think of another name. Thank you for your feedback!

Why not Clarissa shortened to Rissa?

recently · 10/12/2018 06:01

It means fight or brawl in Italian which puts me off!

Mumsnut · 10/12/2018 06:47

She's going to be Rissole as soon as she starts school

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2018 07:51

Just checked. Mine have never heard of rissoles.Grin

Note to self. Make rissoles for tea.

eightyeightmilesperhour · 10/12/2018 07:54

The name 'Risa' is actually an Indian name and means laughter. It's pronounced 'Ree-sa' Smile

ViragoKnows · 10/12/2018 07:57

Go with Risa, since thats a real name and pretty.

Cosmoa · 10/12/2018 11:16

I love Marissa but don't like Rissa on its own!

TatianaLarina · 11/12/2018 19:00

I think Marissa and Nerissa are very pretty, as is Raissa.

Risa is pretty too.

AlliKaneErikson · 12/12/2018 00:45

It’s only one letter different to the town where I live so feels a bit odd as a name to me. However, I love Larissa and like Marissa.

Boooombastic · 28/12/2018 21:34

I have a Raissa, it's a family name. She is nearly an adult now and she won't accept any form of nickname or consider changing it in any way, like using it's more common form of spelling with one 's'. The issues we have had have been laziness in people's understanding of the pronunciation - it does stretch people a bit. And "Rice" and "Rise" are not flattering diminutives. Even in posh school. International school however is fine.

Honeybee79 · 28/12/2018 22:20

Makes me think of rizlas.

I know someone who occasionally goes by “Rissa”, her given name is Carissa.

Toastedstrudel · 02/01/2019 20:04

I know an Arissa. May be a good option.

Luckingfovely · 02/01/2019 20:18

Yup, it's not good, sorry.
