Caggie

Not considering it for any future children as it doesn't go with my surname but I was watching Made In Chelsea back and forgot all about Caggie Dunlop.

What do you think of the name Caggie? I think in her case Caggie is short of Catherine (I think?) but do you think it could be a stand alone name? I quite like it!

Hideous

Wolfiefan · 05/12/2018 11:08

Sounds like someone gagging.
Or would be mistaken for Aggie.

naicepineapple · 05/12/2018 11:12

Horrible; makes me think of gagging or the Scots word claggy

drum123 · 05/12/2018 11:13

Urggh!

Iamtheresurrection · 05/12/2018 11:14

I though it was short for Caroline.

festivedramallama · 05/12/2018 11:15

It is normally short for Caroline and horrible

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 05/12/2018 11:15

It isn’t pleasant, IMO.

ContessaHallelujahSparklehorse · 05/12/2018 11:16

Hideous!

QuantamBaby · 05/12/2018 11:17

It's the slang word for cagoules and waterproofs round these parts - not a nice name at all....

Marylou2 · 05/12/2018 11:17

I think she has so many natural advantages in life that she can get away with being called Caggie.
If you have to ,perhaps call your child Catherine or Cassandra and see if Caggie suits her. If not then Kate or Cassie would be much better. Sorry....

Marylou2 · 05/12/2018 11:19

Just read your OP again and realised you aren’t considering this for an actual child. Sorry I panicked thereGrinGrin

PurdysChocolate · 05/12/2018 11:20

I thought her name was Caroline, not sure.

Anyway it's not great in itself, Caggie on TV could pull it off because she was beautiful, posh, and just a generally cool person.

I def wouldn't use it on the birth certificate. But if you like it as a nickname you could give it a whirl.

Cosmoa · 05/12/2018 11:21

Awful... Claggy

ernjas · 05/12/2018 11:23

I think it's definitely Catherine after a google search! And not liked either! 😂

Behave!

Disfordarkchocolate · 05/12/2018 11:25

It's too close to claggy for me.

Polkasq · 05/12/2018 11:47

Agnes/Aggie is quite cool, but not Caggie.

5tarlight · 06/12/2018 07:02

It's a waterproof coat here too. Sibling for little Pacamac perhaps? Wink

Bagadverts · 06/12/2018 07:07

Makes me think of claggy

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/12/2018 08:17

Apparently when she was born her brother couldn't pronounce Catherine so he said Caggie, and it just stuck.

CloserIAm2Fine · 06/12/2018 13:29

Hideous on its own

As a nickname it’s really one of those awful ones that only extremely posh people can pull off, like Bunny

stargazer124 · 06/12/2018 13:37

Caggie sounds awful, sorry. Catherine is nice.

DoYouLikeBasghetti · 06/12/2018 13:39

It made me think of skaggy, as in heroin-y.

GrannyHaddock · 06/12/2018 15:57

Ghastly!

GrannyHaddock · 06/12/2018 15:59

Italians will pronounce it Shaggy.
