If not, what is the usual spelling? Thanks :)

The two Anoushka's I know spell it that way. I can't think of another way to spell it?

pictish · 04/12/2018 21:42

That’s how we spell it.

Sophronia · 04/12/2018 21:51

I’ve also seen Annushka

Cosmoa · 04/12/2018 23:37

Yes, like the incredible Anoushka Shankar ❤️

spugzbunny · 04/12/2018 23:38

I've only seen it as anouska

AppleScoop · 05/12/2018 00:07

Can be Anoushka or Anouska.

FlamingoFlamango · 05/12/2018 15:50

That is the joke name when people ask what we're calling our baby. Please don't do that to your poor child!

FartnissEverbeans · 05/12/2018 16:33

I’ve taught several girls called Anoushka. I don’t see what wrong with it...? Seems like a normal, albeit unusual, name to me.

Fucking hell. What a cock!

It’s a perfectly normal and lovely name, especially in Russia where my DH is from, and would have been DS’s name if he were a girl. We would spell it Anoushka but is pronounced the same without the ‘h’

shumway · 05/12/2018 16:42

It's a lovely name.

pictish · 05/12/2018 16:51

Flamingo - we did and she gets many compliments on her name but has never been teased about it. She likes it herself and prefers the full name to any shortenings. She’s 9. HTH.

helpmum2003 · 05/12/2018 16:54

It's a lovely name OP. Good choice.

pictish · 05/12/2018 16:57

We preferred the spelling of Anouska but knew she’d get a lifetime of mis-spellings and mispronunciations.
Anushka and Annushka are also acceptable. I remember there being several ways of spelling it when we chose it. We went with the most obvious for ease.

Ilovedotcotton · 05/12/2018 17:01

It’s a lovely name. Ignore Flamingo.

FlamingoFlamango · 05/12/2018 18:32

Each to their own

Kittykatmacbill · 05/12/2018 19:31

Nice name but I love anouk. Sometime I call dd1 it!

Stringofpearls · 05/12/2018 19:32

Very pretty name, that's how I'd spell it.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 05/12/2018 20:13

I have only seen is as Anoushka

OublietteBravo · 05/12/2018 20:18

I know 3 people with this name. They all spell it Anouska.

Orchiddingme · 05/12/2018 20:22

I love this name! Very Russian. Ignore any silly people. Anoushka is a normal name in lots of parts of the world and not even that unusual here (in that most people would have heard of it).

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2018 20:38

Yes, and it's pretty.

AliCanTea · 05/12/2018 22:41

Thanks all :) Kitty I love Anouk too but sadly it doesn't flow into our surname very well.

ANNA is the proper name, Anoushka is a pet name.

pictish · 06/12/2018 17:27

Yes I believe Anoushka means 'little Anna'.
But so what? It's just a gorgeous name whatever.

its very cute for a little girl, but might be embarrassing for a grown up woman (think work, etc.)
Just my opinion - keep pet names for the family, give proper names at least for documents.
