Girls names you might not find in a baby names book

After two DS's I was so excited to start looking for a girls name. However, after reading our baby names book and various online searches, there aren't many I'm liking!

So, which names might I have missed? Any girls names you don't often see on lists? I like a mix of names including classic, strong, bit quirky. Names you don't hear every day, but not so unique they will be teased or spend their lives spelling it out. Help!

There's some lovely name lists here categorised by theme / sound / time period / meaning.

One name I learned from that site that I'd never heard before was Idony. Quite a common mediaeval English name apparently!

VforVloody. I know a Vada (and I don't think it is you and she certainly is not on Mumsnet baby name threads!)

VforVloodyHell · 04/12/2018 20:05

@corkandwood

Essex?

I told a lie anyway. Not actually ‘met’ in the sense but I remember when Facebook was young and fresh, and American woman messaged me just to say hello, because we both were called Vada with a quite similar surname

@littletipple I was named after the main character! My mum was pregnant with me when it came out.

Can only think of one time it’s been mispronounced, my tutor called me Vadda a few times but it was easily corrected.

LittleTipple · 04/12/2018 22:27

@VforVloodyHell Aah, that's a lovely story. Well, it's top of my list Smile
