Baby girl is due in less than 3 months and I think we've found a strong potential name but would love to hear people's thoughts...

Rosa
middle name Jean after my grandma

Is Rosa Jean a lovely yet elegant name or would you think it's a bit too old-fashioned (my only concern)?
We've been through all the other 'Rose' name variations and aren't as keen on the others.

Or do you think any of these alternatives would be better?

Aria
Ariana
Amber
Lara
Maya
Anabelle

Thanks
Grin

I love the name Rosa and prefer it to Rose.

Rosa Jean is a great name. (and its lovely that you have the connection to your grandma in there as well).

Fibbertigibbet · 02/12/2018 10:30

I think Rosa Jean is lovely! It's not old fashioned, it's classic and timeless.

Snowwontbelong · 02/12/2018 10:31

My dc's dgm was Jayne but got Jean (?), Rosa Jayne is nicer!!

confusedandemployed · 02/12/2018 10:32

I adore Rosa. So much that I named DD it, and her middle name is quite similar so it's a thumbs up from me Smile

MrsMiggel · 02/12/2018 10:33

Rosa Jean is lovely. Presumably she’ll mostly just use Rosa anyway?

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 02/12/2018 10:33

Rosa is the stand-out best among your suggestions and works very well with Jean - retro glamour. Rosa has strong namesakes too, as well as being simple, pretty, difficult to spell wrong, and international. Think you're on to a winner there :)

RavenWings · 02/12/2018 10:34

Can't agree with the pp, Rosa Jean is far nicer than Rosa Jayne. It'd be a bit weird to use Jayne anyway if it's a connection to the gm you want and she was never a Jayne...

ernjas · 02/12/2018 10:45

Rosa Jean is nice.

lolamooo · 02/12/2018 11:09

Rosa Jean is lovely

MikeUniformMike · 02/12/2018 12:58

Rosa Jean is beautiful.

MikeUniformMike · 02/12/2018 13:00

I like Jane but not Jayne. The y makes it try-hard.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/12/2018 13:08

I think it’s fine.

From your list though, I love Lara.

LarkDescending · 02/12/2018 13:10

Rosa is a brilliant choice and works well with Jean.

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/12/2018 13:14

Rosa Jean is beautiful and my favourite from your list.
Lara would be my second choice.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 02/12/2018 13:17

Rosa Jean is a fabulous name

I much prefer it to any of your other possibles

Disagree with PP about Rosa Jayne, Rosa Jean is far nicer IMO

Astronica · 02/12/2018 13:19

Rosa Jean is a good name. My favourite from your list would be Annabel if you spelt it like this, and I also like Lara.

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/12/2018 13:26

I think it's lovely ! Feminine but strong.

I also like Lara from your list ,don't like the others

JKMM · 02/12/2018 18:10

Thanks for all your help, everyone Grin
I think Rosa may be the one!!

I would go Jeanne rather Jean - more chic.

It’s always nice to honour a grandparent but Jean is very dated.

Sophronia · 02/12/2018 19:48

Rosa Jean is lovely.

3in4years · 02/12/2018 20:06

Rosa Jean is perfect.

Doghorsechicken · 02/12/2018 20:12

Rosa Jean is lovely! Some really crap alternatives being suggested though, stick with Rosa Jean!

Pemba · 03/12/2018 00:30

I really like it. Rosa is more interesting than Rose and surprisingly unusual. Rosa Jean flows well too, and although I wouldn't really like Jean as a first name, as a middle name it goes with Rosa nicely and also honours your grandma.

AliCanTea · 03/12/2018 02:26

Amber Jean does sound lovely too!

SallyWD · 03/12/2018 09:22

It's a beautiful name. Go for it!
