Is Queenie a usable name? Is it more middle name material or do you think it's bad in general? Hmm

HellenaHandbasket · 26/11/2018 22:13

Bad in general, sorry.

RLOU30 · 26/11/2018 22:13

Really bad sorry

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/11/2018 22:14

Bad in general. I think it’s a chihuahua name at best.

MadeForThis · 26/11/2018 22:15

As a nickname maybe. As an official name. No

Coolaschmoola · 26/11/2018 22:15

Bad in general...

Brings to mind large, brash, loud old woman with no teeth. Or a 1970's dog.

Doyoumind · 26/11/2018 22:16

Has this been inspired by Fantastic Beasts? Bear in mind that's set in the '20s. I don't think it works at all now.

Sessy19 · 26/11/2018 22:17

It’s the name of a character in the Crimes if Grindlewald (Harry Potter extension!) so I heard it again this weekend and I think it is GORGEOUS!!! The character was a bit fiery and wild, just as I’d expect my daughter to be actually. Although I don’t think it’s a name I’d only associate with those characteristics.

I knew another Queenie in real life, about 30yrs ago nearly. She was the typical ‘fag-ash Lil’ of our estate, heart of gold, but rough around the edges, wild peroxide hair and a hoarse voice. Always handed out cakes and sweets to the tens of kids on the Estate on Christmas Eve. A sweetheart.

It’s a great name x

Littlechocola · 26/11/2018 22:17

Awful

ShotsFired · 26/11/2018 22:17

I'm pretty sure I had an Aunty Queenie back in 1970s London. Chain smoking with a gold tooth, wore a cotton housecoat.

Janleverton · 26/11/2018 22:17

Bert and Queenie - OAPS in the secret diary of Adrian mole.

Not a great name. Bit like a twee nickname rather than a ‘proper’ name and feels old fashioned but not in a just about to come back into fashion way.

BadgerWithRice · 26/11/2018 22:18

Queenie makes me think of Blackadder. Haven’t seen Fantastic Beasts though.

Probably showing my age here Grin

Queenie
DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2018 22:18

Oh dear God no. It's absolutely dreadful.

Sessy19 · 26/11/2018 22:19

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queenie_(name)
Popular amongst the gypsy community (although no reference supplied...! Good ol’ Wiki!) and as a pet name for girls names for the regent...

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/11/2018 22:19

Shockingly bad.

ernjas · 26/11/2018 22:20

Yes, it is inspired by Fantastic Beasts 😂 it's of course set a hundred years ago but I've loved the name since I heard it!

Yes black adder or an old lady on Eastenders

FamilyOfAliens · 26/11/2018 22:21

Seriously, no.

Vitalogy · 26/11/2018 22:22

What about the name Elizabeth, then use the nickname Queenie. Smile I always call Queen Elizabeth Queenie.

DreamsofJacaranda · 26/11/2018 22:23

No. Just no.

TheVanguardSix · 26/11/2018 22:26

Yikes! Confused Don’t do it.
Queenie was my cat’s name. And even for the cat it was a handle.

Lilmisskittykat · 26/11/2018 22:28

I immediately thought of fantastic beasts (did just see it at the weekend)

I'm not sure it would be my choice.

FlyingMonkeys · 26/11/2018 22:28

Regina?... No, Queenie would be fine as a family nn. Beatrice (Queen Bee?) Perhaps?

Starryskiesinthesky · 26/11/2018 22:29

Awful.

SwingoutSisterSledge · 26/11/2018 22:34

I immediately thought of Queenie out of the Adrian Mole books

MsTSwift · 26/11/2018 22:36

It’s really really bad sorry
