what do you think of the name Kiley? Please give me your honest opinions.

Only for an 80s pop singer I'm afraid.

WheresTheEvidence · 26/11/2018 13:09

Much prefer the Kylie version of spelling it. She will have to spell it out everytime for her whole life.

WheresTheEvidence · 26/11/2018 13:10

Also very dated. Late 80s girls name.

ClaudiaWankleman · 26/11/2018 13:10

I’ve never heard of it - it doesn’t read as a name to me. Is it pronounced the same as Kylie?

I would pronounce it kill-ee on first sight, which doesn’t sound right.

PotteringAlong · 26/11/2018 13:10

No

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/11/2018 13:12

I like Kylie but I'm not keen on spelling it Kiley. It just doesn't read well.

ShotsFired · 26/11/2018 13:14

It sounds like a try-hard version of Kylie. Which itself has dated very badly.

ghostsandghoulies · 26/11/2018 13:16

I didn't realise it was pronounced Kylie. I assumed Kill-ee which is obviously not good.

Pimpernell · 26/11/2018 13:16

Fans of Rilo Kiley?

MarshaBradyo · 26/11/2018 13:17

Bad version of Kylie - which isn’t that great in the first place (but who knows has been out of favour so long might swing back)

But no to Kiley

OlennasWimple · 26/11/2018 13:17

Prefer Kylie or Keela or Kya

ApolloandDaphne · 26/11/2018 13:18

It looks like Kylie with all the letters in the wrong order.

insancerre · 26/11/2018 13:20

Honestly?
It’s awful

helpmum2003 · 26/11/2018 13:21

Sorry I agree with all above :(

CloserIAm2Fine · 26/11/2018 13:23

Horrific

Kylie if you must but it’s very dated

ShotsFired · 26/11/2018 13:27

A (female) friend of a friend is called Rylie.
It just looks wrong - should be Riley.

But in your case, Kiley should be Kylie!

OneTwistedAngel · 26/11/2018 15:36

I can't work out how to pronounce it. Kylie?
It's not my taste at all. Very 80s imo

Oblomov18 · 26/11/2018 15:44

It's awful.
It's like a bad 80's Kylie.

GraceMarks · 26/11/2018 15:48

It looks like you've misspelled Kylie. Unfortunately, it's one of those names which will forever be associated with one specific person, like Elvis, Madonna, Beyonce and the like. I don't think I would want a name which, when someone saw it, always made them think of someone other than me first.

UnrelentingFruitScoffer · 26/11/2018 15:53

Both Kiley and Kylie are the same underlying Irish name. The Kylie spelling is much more common and will be recognised. The Kiley spelling is unusual and reminds English-speakers if the word “kill” which is not good for a name unless you are a pit-bull with a fighting reputation.

The underlying Irish word is often transliterated into English as Caoilean as well and gives us the dialect word “colleen”. Both caoilean and Colleen mean a young country lass or the Star of the County Down.

Honeybee79 · 26/11/2018 15:56

Honestly, don't.

MorningCuppa · 26/11/2018 16:01

Awful but if you have to, the spelling "kylie" is much better.

Shadow1234 · 26/11/2018 19:30

Not to my taste tbh.
