What’s your opinion on the name Emilia? Is it bound to be confused for Amelia all the time? Also, do you think Emilia Evelina or Emilia Daphne sound good for a first and middle?

Yes, it will be confused with Amelia a lot of the time.

Generally, middle names aren't used in day to day life, so, as long as it isn't a ridiculous name (for the odd occasions it is used) I wouldn't worry too much about it 'going'.

Birrdy · 25/11/2018 21:14

I don't think it would be confused with Amelia all the time but I think it's very very popular and that's what would put me off it. Obviously some people don't mind about that so ignore if you are one of those!

whystay · 25/11/2018 21:17

I really like it but I do think it would be confused with Amelia a lot. What about Emilene as an alternative, I think it's a lovely name.

stellarfox · 25/11/2018 21:24

Emilia is lovely but she will have to spell her name out to people. We have a friend with an Emilia and we spelt it Emelia on a card once and her parents were not too pleased!

Agree with previous poster that Emmeline is another nice name (this spelling though). I think Emilia is very usable though!

Shadow1234 · 25/11/2018 21:59

I do think they sound very similar when you actually say both names.
But this is a decision for you to make, and if you really like the name, then go for it.

anothermothersusername · 25/11/2018 22:18

My lovely friend named her dad Emila. I have never heard anyone mispronounce the name as Amelia. I think it’s a really nice name (classy without sounding too pretentious)

anothermothersusername · 25/11/2018 22:19

Dad! * DD I meant to say!

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2018 23:16

It's lovely, subtly different to Amelia & nicer IMO.

I like Emilia Daphne. Emilia Evelina is a bit much.

Cbeebiesrehab · 26/11/2018 06:57

It’s my friends daughters name and for the life of me I still can’t hear the difference between Emilia and Amelia when said quickly. I have to pause and really concentrate on emphasising the Em sound. For this reason I can’t seen to like it.

Pompom42 · 26/11/2018 07:02

It's ok but Amelia is massively common still. Amelia and Emilia sound the same to me.
How about Emmi?

Astronica · 26/11/2018 07:07

Yes she will probably be confused with Amelia sometimes, but that wouldn't be enough to stop me using it if I loved it. They are pronounced the same, so of course that will happen. However people who know your Emilia will know her name! Emilia Daphne is a good combo - not keen on Evelina with it.

starandson · 26/11/2018 11:50

I love it. It’s nicer than Amelia.

CloserIAm2Fine · 26/11/2018 13:25

I know an Emilia who is frequently mistake for Amelia

I always try to emphasise the Em when I say her name

I much prefer Amelia or Emily

Pimpernell · 26/11/2018 13:28

To my ears Emilia and Amelia sound exactly the same: uh-meely-ah.

So I'd imagine people will generally assume she's called the more common Amelia. Not a massive issue but one to be aware of.

Syvilla · 26/11/2018 14:10

Emilia Daphne is lovely.

Emilia Evelina is too repetitive and sounds a little ridiculous

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 26/11/2018 19:45

Emilia Daphne is lovely

Winterwonderland12 · 26/11/2018 22:54

There's are so many girls called Emily/Amelie/Amelia/Emilia already. Personally I'd choose something less popular

Winterwonderland12 · 26/11/2018 22:55

Sorry There are

Winterwonderland12 · 26/11/2018 22:55

Daphne is a lovely name! I'd use that as first name
