Opinions on Rory?
Do you prefer it for a boy or a girl?

Like it but only for a boy

RavenWings · 25/11/2018 15:02

Nice for a boy. Definitely not for a girl!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/11/2018 15:03

Like it only for a boy.

VillanellesHairPin · 25/11/2018 15:04

The only female Rory I've heard of is Rory Gilmore, from the Gilmore girls.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 25/11/2018 15:09

And Rory in the Gilmore girls was a nickname. Her real name was Lorelai like her mother. I think it’s suited to boys mroe

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/11/2018 15:13

It's good for a boy but I like it as a nn for Aurora too.

DollyWilde · 25/11/2018 15:15

It’s my favourite boys name ever but is also BILs name so we probably couldn’t use it Sad

Really don’t like it on a girl but I’m not a fan of calling girls by traditionally male names.

NameChange30 · 25/11/2018 15:17

Great BOY'S name

Would you call a boy Jemima? No? Then don't call a girl Rory.

MeVoila · 25/11/2018 15:22

Lovely boys name. Not overly keen for a girl. Is it one of those crossover names like Jamie?

Pimpernell · 25/11/2018 16:51

Can't stand it being used as a girls' name. It means 'red king'.

HelenaJustina · 25/11/2018 16:56

Love it, it’s a boy’s name.

RiverTam · 25/11/2018 16:56

It’s a boys’ name of Scottish descent, I believe. Nice name for a boy, particularly if there’s Scottish connection.

There’s no actual reason why you couldn’t use it for a girl, I suppose.

AdaColeman · 25/11/2018 17:04

Great for a boy, not so great for a girl.

Janleverton · 25/11/2018 17:07

Like it for a boy. Definitely not for a girl.

CloserIAm2Fine · 25/11/2018 17:56

Lovely boys name

Not a girls name all. Fine as a nickname for Aurora or Lorelai. But not Rory on its own

AJPTaylor · 25/11/2018 18:02

All of our daughters were going to be called Rory if they were boys!
We only had girls....pondering it for a boy dogs name now!

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 25/11/2018 18:10

Love it for a boy.

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2018 23:18

I love it.

It is a good, strong male name. It is not a girls' name.

makeanewname13 · 25/11/2018 23:37

I taught a little girl called Rory. She was bright, articulate and completely suited her name. I did think it was unusual at first to be fair but after a couple of hours she was just Rory. Actually prefer it as a girls name now.

Bojangles33 · 26/11/2018 00:05

Well it's not generally a girls name as far as I'm aware, but is lovely

ColdCrumpetsAndButter · 26/11/2018 00:07

Boy only but prefer Hamish or Fraser.

Winterwonderland12 · 26/11/2018 07:50

I know a girl Rory, short for Aurora.

The problem with the name is the amount of Rs way for people who can't pronounce them very well. Can sound like Wowy!

foxtiger · 26/11/2018 08:26

I love it for a boy but don't think it should be used as a girl's name. There are enough of those already.

TheGhostOfYou · 26/11/2018 10:27

I was ony boys list. I love it
