Just looking for opinions on the name Jenson?
Older brother called Noah.
Narrowed the choice down to Jenson or Rupert now.
Girls name is set at Matilda Rose! Found girls names so much easier.

I prefer Rupert!

MollyHuaCha · 25/11/2018 14:21

Sounds like a surname. It's in the same bracket for me as Harrison, Mason, Taylor, Jayden.

PatriciaHolm · 25/11/2018 14:22

The natural assumption would be you've named him after Jenson Button I think.

Limpetry · 25/11/2018 14:26

What Molly said.

It's also a very different type of name to Rupert. I don't like either much, to be honest. I knew an Oxford Rupert who had a half-blue in croquet and was known as 'Rupes' and the name has never quite recovered for me. Rupert the Bear. Prince Rupert of the Rhine.

Moominfan · 25/11/2018 14:31

Can you not go for safe names like Oscar, Oliver ect.... your being put in a bracket op

Winterwonderland12 · 25/11/2018 14:41

Can you not go for safe names like Oscar, Oliver?

Yes, let's name all boys the same top 10 names! They'll be known as Oliver 1, Oliver 2, Oliver 3 etc

How dull and annoying for everyone...!

Winterwonderland12 · 25/11/2018 14:42

I like both Rupert and Jenson!

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2018 14:42

Jenson is OK. It's much nicer than Rupert anyway.

user1468942365 · 25/11/2018 14:42

It's nicer spelled Jensen, I think. Its not uncommon here, either.

mummyofboys30 · 25/11/2018 14:45

Moominfan Your comment...... Just amazing. I have a job where I associate people I've met with names and thus dont want to use those names. And just because I have one child with a top 10 names doesn't mean I would have another one. Its about liking a name not its popularity.

I prefer Rupert.

Pemba · 25/11/2018 14:51

To be brutally honest, neither choice is great. Jenson is a surname (equivalent of 'Johnson' in Scandinavian countries I think?), also Jenson Button. Rupert is wussy, or a cartoon bear.

Suggest you choose something more classic or biblical, to match your older son.

Janleverton · 25/11/2018 14:54

Don’t like jenson at all. Think straight away of formula one, probably because I can’t think of any others.

Quite like Rupert, and definitely prefer to jenson. Have a friend called Rupert who is nicknamed Ru, which suits him.

Janleverton · 25/11/2018 14:55

Do you like Rufus?

Peachbubble · 25/11/2018 15:53

I prefer Rupert tbh.

kenandbarbie · 25/11/2018 15:55

I don't really like either of those names sorry. Rupert is a bit wet sounding and Jenson, as others have said, reminds me of those Harrison type names.

Moominfan · 25/11/2018 16:50

Winter I think my comment went over your head, previous posters described jenson as being part of a bracket. I abhor name snobbery

RiverTam · 25/11/2018 16:58

Ackles, Button are my first connections.

I quite like it, I’m not averse to surname-first names, it’s very common in Scotland.

Noah and Jenson. I like it.

Ohyesiam · 25/11/2018 17:05

Jenson sounds like a brand/ surname to me.
Rupert is ok, but I once went to a Party in a large country house where a very drunk young woman was trying to get her boyfriend Rupert to behave/ give her some attention. She had a hint of a speech impediment ( w for r ) and kept saying “WRupert! Wrupert, come here! I’m really cross now” etc . So the name is a bit tainted for me.

manufan1982 · 25/11/2018 17:11

Couldn't not think of Rupert Murdoch

I originally read Jenson as Jetson.... Meet George Jetson...

Winterwonderland12 · 25/11/2018 17:12

previous posters described jenson as being part of a bracket

And the response is to suggest a super common top 10 name?

daisypond · 25/11/2018 17:18

Rupert is nicer than Jenson - which I actually quite like, but it's so associated with Jenson Button, it's become a bit of a celeb imitation name.

mummyofboys30 · 25/11/2018 17:25

Why is it so hard to find a boys name to complement Noah? When I was pregnant with Noah I loved the name Jacob but not sure now as the meaning puts me off. A Facebook friend has recently named their little boy Joseph which I swooned over but worried about being shortened to Joe/Joey as a permanent thing. I just don't really love any other boys names. I prefer names that can't be shortened.
