Is this pushing it for our second boy's name?

Hi everyone. First time poster on here. We have one gorgeous little boy called Jamie. We are now expecting our second boy. We really like the name Ollie. There will be 4 years between the two boys. The only thing stopping us choosing Ollie as the name for our second boy is a worry over the endless Jamie Oliver comments!! The second boy wouldn't be known as Oliver, but only as Ollie. Are we overthinking this, or should we stay well clear?! It would be really useful to get some outside opinions on this one. Thank you!

I don’t think the Jamie Oliver thing would have occurred to me, probably because you mention Ollie rather than Oliver.

I think if you love the name, go for it.

The association “issue” won’t be relevant when they are adults.

Thanks for your response JessicaWhistles - I agree, once they are adults it definitely won't be an issue. Just think it might do our heads in a bit if we get the comment lots, but with the age gap, I hope it wouldn't be an issue for the boys at least!

I think with Ollie you are fine. Didn't even make the connection until you said.

Both great names. I would definitely make the Jamie Oliver connection but I don't think it's a negative, just a little thing for people to realise, point out and move on.

I have a Jamie and an Ollie and no one comments. Great names!

I have a friend called Robin and his brother is Christopher. He said when he was younger, they got referred to as Christopher Robin, but did them no harm.

I never made the Jamie Oliver connection ! I think if his official name is Ollie it's absolutely fine

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 23/11/2018 20:20

It wouldn't occur to me at all.

I would make the connection but wouldn't be bothered by it. Nice names OP, go for it!

I think it would be fine and the two names go well together for siblings.
