Middle name James or George?

Eminybob · 23/11/2018 04:12

I have recently given birth to a beautiful baby Alexander.

Can’t decide on his middle name though.

James - which is DH’s name
George - my paternal granddad’s name

DS1 has family names for both his names - his first name is dh’s middle name.

We were all set on James but I’ve now got stuck on George. I think dh would like James for obvious reasons.

Alexander is not a family name at all, just one we both love.

Thanks in advance.

Personally I prefer the sound of Alexander James

If ds1 has dads name I'd be tempted to give ds2 one of dads too.

sunshineandshowers21 · 23/11/2018 04:48

i prefer alexander george - although it does sound a little ‘royal,’ maybe because prince george is george alexander.

Sarah22xx · 23/11/2018 05:05

I prefer James but either sound lovely together, congratulations on your baby xxx

Shadow1234 · 23/11/2018 05:24

I prefer Alexander George. (and it would be a lovely idea to honour your paternal grandad - seeing as your husbands middle name has been given to DS1).

Polkasq · 23/11/2018 07:09

Go for George. James is very popular as a middle name.

Alex3101 · 23/11/2018 07:12

Why don't you use both names.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 23/11/2018 07:13

Hard one. I love both names.

Honestly I couldn't choose! Toss a coin Grin

Congratulations Flowers

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 23/11/2018 07:13

I much prefer James

llangennith · 23/11/2018 07:17

Why not have both as middle names?

Eminybob · 23/11/2018 07:28

Mixed opinions!
I’m swinging back to James I think.
Ds1 also has my dads name as a middle name so we have already honoured that side of the family.

Alexander George is our pick for a second boy! Love James as well.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 23/11/2018 08:36

They both flow well

I would perhaps be more inclined to use George purely because I would guess that approx 50% of Alexanders are 'Alexander James' so using George will make him a little more individual (especially if your surname is something fairly common)

NameChange30 · 23/11/2018 08:40

George

Assuming you took your husband's surname and gave that surname to your children (most people do), they should have a middle name from your side of the family.

starkid · 23/11/2018 16:38

Alexander James :)

OneTwistedAngel · 23/11/2018 20:43

Alexander James. I think both boys having dad's name is nice. Save george for number 3 or pet x

KristinaM · 23/11/2018 20:46

George, as you have already named your first son after your husband . And I’m assuming both boys have your husbands surname and not yours .

CarolinenotCarolyn · 24/11/2018 02:28

I prefer Alexander James. Wink

moredoll · 24/11/2018 03:19

Alexander James

onename · 24/11/2018 09:02

I have an Alexander James. I love it!

Eminybob · 24/11/2018 09:09

We decided on James - it’s been officially Facebook announced so the point of no return!

I would have said James..
congrats on little Alexander James!

Both are nice but James goes best. Like it a lot. Congratulations.
