What do we think of this name? Nickname could be Cyn or Thia

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MaidenMotherCrone · 21/11/2018 13:04

Nope

Piggyhoolier · 21/11/2018 13:16

I know 2 Cynthias. 1 is mid 70s and white. The other is late teens and black. They both genuinely suit their names.

Weirdly though, I might find it slightly old ladyish on a white baby, but would think it suited a black baby better...no idea why, maybe just because of the young lady I know. It helps that’s she’s very beautiful so honestly she could be called anything and would probably carry it off iyswim.

Makes me think immediately of Angelica's scraggy doll on the Rugrats!

lebkuchenlover · 21/11/2018 14:30

Lovely name! Why shorten it though?

ReginaPhalange89 · 21/11/2018 16:55

Instantly thought of Rugrats too lol . I don't like it sorry, too old fashioned for my taste

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/11/2018 18:05

No way. It's in the saw boat as Cheryl, Carole, Janet, Ann, Barbara, Sheila and Tina.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/11/2018 18:05

Same not saw

BertramKibbler · 21/11/2018 18:06

Lovely name

Khorkina · 21/11/2018 19:17

Cyn aka ‘Sin’ isn’t the best nickname!

Shadow1234 · 21/11/2018 19:19

Not liking at all im afraid. (especially with cyn 'sin' sounding nn)

BigGapMum · 21/11/2018 19:21

Is anyone else thinking of Cynthia Payne aka Madame Cyn?

Sophronia · 21/11/2018 20:23

How about Celia?

DramaAlpaca · 21/11/2018 20:26

No, I don't like Cynthia or either of those diminutives. At all.

hungryhippie · 21/11/2018 20:29

I like it! I dont like any of the nicknames though.

lebkuchenlover · 21/11/2018 20:55

You don't need a nickname!

lebkuchenlover · 21/11/2018 20:56

All the Cynthias I know are Cynthia!

SlippedMyIdiom · 21/11/2018 23:27

No from me. It's old and not in the 'let's revive it' kind of a way. Thea is pretty and more modern.

RedDwarves · 22/11/2018 07:53

It's a no from me, and she would always be Cindy, whether you liked it or not.

If you like "Thia", call her Thea.

NonaGrey · 22/11/2018 08:00

You’d have to like Cindy as that’s a fairly common nickname and she may well choose it herself.

Dontrocktheboat · 22/11/2018 08:02

I like it, think it has a pretty sound (bit like Thea, which is popular). Don't like any of the nicknamed except maybe Cindy.

Kokeshi123 · 22/11/2018 08:29

I don't like this name--makes me think of simper, synthetic and sinister all at the same time!

LipstickTraces · 22/11/2018 09:13

I like CynthiaSmile It’s a lot better than some of the hideous old lady names that are making a comeback. It’s a lot nicer than Ethel, Nora etc...

grufallosfriend · 22/11/2018 09:15

I like Cynthia.

Zazia · 22/11/2018 22:52

I like it. Nn Cindy.

thighofrelief · 22/11/2018 23:04

How about Lucinda instead?
