Alyssa and Albie

What are your opinions on the name Alyssa for a girl and Albert for a boy. I already have a DD called Alyssa and a DS called Zachary. Trying to think of a name for DS2. I know that they both begin with 'Al' but my daughter is always called Lyssa and DS2 would always be called Albie. We are also considering Dylan but apparently Zac Efron has a younger brother called Dylan (according to my little sis) and I would hate for people to think that I am copying that.

I really doubt that most people would know that about Zac Efron, I think you'd be safe with Dylan. I think I would use Dylan - your other names are quite strong to me and Albie is weak and insubstantial imo. Dylan has more substance.

I think they go fine, I am not a fan of all matching initials (know of a family where both parents have M names, so gave all 3 daughters M names too. It makes me cringe!). But having a Z in there shows you are picking names you like and not just ones that match.

I actually prefer Albie to Dylan.

Much prefer Albie. Dylan is not a great name, l think. And l wouldn't find your names to matchy matchy.

Much prefer Dylan to Albert. (and I wouldnt have know about Zac Efrons brother either).

CloserIAm2Fine · 18/11/2018 13:33

I really don’t like Albie, much prefer Dylan

No one would ever think you were copying Zac Efrons brother name. No one knows who he is. He's not famous.

Albert/Albie is much nicer than Dylan anyway.

LeticiaDejeuner · 18/11/2018 20:39

Definitely Dylan. Awesome name. Not a fan of Albie/Albert.

TenThousandSpoons · 19/11/2018 09:51

Alyssa and Albie are t oo similar I think. Although you don’t call her the full name at the moment she might want to be called that in future or friends could nn her Al/Ally when she’s older. I didn’t know Zac Effron’s brother’s name either and I am quite a fan 😉

I picked the name Alyssa so I could call her Lyssa. DH wanted Lyssa as a nickname n not a full name otherwise she'd have probs just been Lyssa. She actually hates the name al or ally. (That may change but I doubt it at this point) She never gets called Alyssa by any of her teachers/friends/family members. On the school register, it is written down as Lyssa. I think most of her friends don't even realise that her name is Alyssa. By the time they learn, calling her Lyssa or Lys will probs be ingrained into them. So Ally of or Al as a nickname is unlikely.
