Just to say, don't panic. We didn't name our DD until she was a week old. We had a shortlist, but none seemed to fit her! No one shot us. Smile

Lila or Isla definitely 💖

nocluenoidea · 12/11/2018 20:26

By the way for all those commenting on popularity, here are the official stats;

  1. Emma- 52
  2. Ellie- 50
  3. Isla- 3
  4. Lily- 10
  5. Lila- 320 (Lyla 95)

I love the name Emma ! That's my fav from the list but they're all pretty names.

IStandWithPosie · 12/11/2018 20:47

Link doesn’t work no.

Do you mean Emma is no 52 on the list of most common or there were 52 Emma’s this year?

RavenWings · 12/11/2018 20:49

They're all a bit generic tbqh. I'd probably choose Lila though.

Lily, Ellie and Isla are particularly of the moment and there's nothing substantial to them. Emma is nice but I'm meh on it. Lila is quite pretty.

DramaAlpaca · 12/11/2018 21:12

Emma, as it's my favourite name.

Eleanor90 · 12/11/2018 23:25

Emma. It’s the least faddish.

Glitterbubbles · 12/11/2018 23:26

Lila or Isla

Rainbowqueeen · 12/11/2018 23:32

Emma is just gorgeous.

I actually like all your possibles except Ellie which makes me think Ellie Elaphant

Why not see what she looks like and then decide?

RedDwarves · 13/11/2018 07:42

I like Lily, Emma and Lila.

I agree that Emma is the best of the bunch if popularity concerns you. Emma is a classic name, but it's not as currently popular as the others on your list. She probably wouldn't have another Emma in her class.

Thanks guys some great responses here!

In Dd's reception class there are a few Ellies, short for different names, there are two Lillies and two Ellas. For that reason I would avoid those names.

fmdeehan · 13/11/2018 14:09

We are edging closer to Emma or Lily (we think!!) finding it so much harder this time round compared to first baby!

Lila is my favourite, pronounced lye-la, the spelling Lilah is also nice. I also like Lily (but it is very popular) and Emma.

Isla is superpopular at the moment, plus I never see the attraction really, it is OK but a bit boring. Ellie has also been extremely popular for over 25 years now, it is nice as a nickname for something else, typically Eleanor or Ella, but has become a bit dull with overuse.

Thatwasfast · 13/11/2018 15:16

What’s DC1s name?

Astronica · 16/11/2018 10:50

They are all nice enough names and all very popular, or have been recently. So, assuming popularity doesn't worry you (and that's fine!), Lily and Emma are my favourites. I would cross Ellie off first as I only like it as a nickname.

bojtogether · 17/11/2018 00:16

Love Isla. Ellie would be my second choice x

Raymond312 · 17/11/2018 01:45

Have you considered Ella Or Elena? You can call her Ellie~ I've been doing baby names all my life~LOL~ avoid the common is my best advise. Congratulations ~! :)

Raymond312 · 17/11/2018 01:48

Different names are popular in different areas of the country. Isla is very rare here in the Ohio valley, while Lila/Lyla is soaring~ See if you can find a chart that has the info you need :)
