What do we think?

sylviec yes tricky when both start with the same letter like a tongue twister and I find R tricky to say at the best of times!

But now you mention it, two monosyllabic names on their own sound like something is missing. Too abrupt.

PinkAvocado · 13/11/2018 07:58

Fartniss But Robin is far more established as a name. So not comparable really.

TheFatberg · 13/11/2018 08:03

People are saying it's popular but it was just within the top 300 in 2017 with 197 being born.

Ontopofthesunset · 13/11/2018 08:05

And also Robin derived as a diminutive of Robert, not from the bird, so certainly historically boys called Robin weren't named after birds, they were usually actually called Robert. The bird was named after the male name, not the other way around.

Not that you need to know the history of a name, but it helps to explain why people react differently to something that has been established and around in popular culture since they can remember (Robin Hood, Robin Goodfellow etc) and something that has only recently been used.

My dd used to know a lovely Wren. We’ve not seen her for a while but she was a very cool kid and her name suited her. She was very petite though and as pp have said, it might not suit everyone.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/11/2018 08:17

My brain goes 'wren, thrush...' sorry.

sylviec · 13/11/2018 08:30

@OhioOhioOhio That's just weird, sorry

They are 2 small garden birds. What's weird about that?

sylviec · 13/11/2018 09:16

@OhioOhioOhio yawn

Yawn. I was answering your question. The one you posted on the internet.

Orchidflower1 · 13/11/2018 10:19

Op I feel you asked a question for a potential name and when people are not responding as you like you’re being a little shirty with them. Surely the point of posting is to get a breadth of opinion.

I agree wren rose is too many r sounds. I do still think of kitchens though but Rose is a lovely name and can provide some lovely nn.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/11/2018 10:23

Rosie is a favourite name of mine.

Thanks Orchid.

Choosing a name is difficult. I have 3 boys. I understand. You have to be able to holler the name across Asda as well as use it cradling your tiny baby.

I have a friend with 4 children. She said to me that I should open the back door and shout the name as though calling my child in for tea. Hth.

I love it, but like Willow I would never use it because it is linked to certain physical attributes.
