What do we think?

@daisypond Daisys are small and nondescript. Ponds are small and pointless. Why would you name yourself after them?

Love it. Always thought Wren and Robin would be lovely for twins.

SoupDragon · 12/11/2018 16:30

Sort of. She's a Seren.

daisypond · 12/11/2018 16:32

sigh... You asked for opinions. It's a ridiculous name.

Olivecake · 12/11/2018 16:35

I love it for either girl or boy - it was on my list until I realised it didn’t sound good with my last name.

Aozora13 · 12/11/2018 16:37

I really like it, but it’s pretty hipster (not sure if that bothers you or not?!)

sylviec · 12/11/2018 16:37

Ooh Wren for a boy, never considered it before now

I don't think many other people think of names as I do. When I see Wren, because it's not a common name, after the first bird and St Paul's cathedral associations, I immediately think of all the other words that start 'wre-', and none of them have very positive meanings. Wrench is clearly the closest, but then you've got wreck and wrest and wrestle and wretch/wretched and wreath (which I suppose could have a positive meaning as in 'wreathed in flowers' but makes me think of funerals) and wreak (as in havoc).

So the word is just not good in my slightly odd brain.

sylviec · 12/11/2018 16:40

@Ontopofthesunset Interested to know what you would name your future daughter? I love odd brains

OP posts:
Ontopofthesunset · 12/11/2018 16:47

Well, no future daughters for me now, and we never got round to deciding on a girl's name as they turned out to be boys....

Actually I liked Claudia but was put off by the fact that it starts with 'claw' and my husband was put off by the Italian pronunciation that sounds like 'cloudier' in English. So just as well they were boys.

worriedgem · 12/11/2018 16:54

Lovely but very popular now if that is something that bothers you.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 12/11/2018 16:56

It's not really a name. Sounds like a (slightly rubbish) nickname for Karen or Lauren.

GoneForFood · 12/11/2018 16:58

It’s ok-ish but I do see it as more of a nickname, but that’s probably because a friend in college was nicknamed Wren - his name was Keiren.

PtangyangkipperbangOi · 12/11/2018 16:59

Wren makes me think of kitchens and radio adverts , sorry!

figelnarage · 12/11/2018 17:03

One of my friends named her DD Wren last year. I don't love it but don't hate it.

sylviec · 12/11/2018 17:04

@figelnarage Do they have any nicknames for her? Like Wrennie or?

TheWiseWomansFear · 12/11/2018 17:08

Have you read the wren chase?

TheWiseWomansFear · 12/11/2018 17:12

The protagonist is called Wren.

And in Wolf Brother there is a girl called Renn.

Almondio · 12/11/2018 17:15

I think it's beautiful! However, in line with PPs, the reason I didn't choose the name Grace was that I didn't want to bestow a delicate name on a child that might become a strapping 6 footer (I'm tall).

sylviec · 12/11/2018 17:17

Although the Wren bird is small etc, the name itself is rather solid. I'm not so worried about how big or small the child ends up

OP posts:
motortroll · 12/11/2018 17:21

Love it! Gutted it wouldn't work with my surname! (For the imaginary 4th baby I'm not having!)

sylviec · 12/11/2018 17:22

Haha I don't even know if I'll have a girl! I'm not pregnant again yet!

It's a name everyone loves on MN but would get Hmm at in RL. I find it rather twee and cutesy, like Daisy.

Talith · 12/11/2018 17:28

I like it.

stellarfox · 12/11/2018 17:59

I really dislike it and any bird names. I’m not sure why but I just find them really unattractive, but I’m in the minority!
