I like it. One of my family has recently had a little boy called Chester.

Santaispolishinghissleigh · 09/11/2018 14:30

Lovely Saluki on Paul OGrady's Love of Dogs the other night called Chester!!

SallyWD · 09/11/2018 14:33

I don't like it but if you do go for it! There are far worse names.

Perfectly1mperfect · 09/11/2018 14:34

I'm not a huge fan but it's ok. I think Holly Willoughbys son is called Chester.

Tadda · 09/11/2018 14:49

….Why do I want to say 'Chester Copperpot'....? Not sure where I know that from.....?

I like it though!

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/11/2018 14:58

It's ok. There is a little boy at playgroup called Chester. I can never decide if it suits him or not though. He is just under 2

Pemba · 09/11/2018 15:48

No, no, no. Old American businessman is the image that springs to mind.

Or 'Chester draws' as in the misspelled item descriptions for furniture that are often on Ebay.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 09/11/2018 16:19

@Tadda Chester Copperpot was from The Goonies.

Catpyjama · 09/11/2018 16:23

I was going to say Chester drawers-check ebay. But then you can do something silly with most names.

Tadda · 09/11/2018 16:48

@catsandboots lol! Thank you :)

Pieceofpurplesky · 09/11/2018 17:01

It's a gorgeous city.

mikapatika · 09/11/2018 17:07

I really wouldn’t

My friend's dog is called Chester so I can't hear it as a human name. (However, I have a son called Rufus, which I know would mean other people would have a similar experience to me!)

cheesefield · 09/11/2018 17:23

I love it.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 09/11/2018 17:26

I have a cat named Chester

Shadow1234 · 09/11/2018 19:04

I love it - had a boy at school called this - over 30 years ago. Never met anyone with this name since.

Polkasq · 09/11/2018 19:14

I don't like all the surnames, place names and occupation names ending in er. Parker, Archer, Tyler, Cooper, Spencer, Hunter, Piper. To me Chester is very much a place name, not only the old cathedral city, but also within place names such as Manchester, Winchester, Cirencester etc.

YoloThankfully · 09/11/2018 19:31

Looove it. But I am obsessed with linkin park and Chester was such a beautiful man .

DramaAlpaca · 09/11/2018 23:52

Nope, not for me.

kaylanelson · 09/11/2018 23:59

I love the name Chester was on the list for my baby!

JaiNotJay · 10/11/2018 00:03

I'd think you'd spent the weekend there nine months before he was born! Wink

Topseyt · 10/11/2018 12:26

I've met dogs called Chester. I don't dislike it, but wouldn't use it for a human.

I also immediately thought of Chester Draws as pps have already mentioned.

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 10/11/2018 12:27

Lovely Saluki on Paul OGrady's Love of Dogs the other night called Chester! Yes!!

Holly Willoughby's son is also called Chester.

I personally am not a fan.

MikeUniformMike · 10/11/2018 12:58

Not a fan. What would his nn be? Chesty?

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 10/11/2018 14:15

Does it need to have a nickname? 4 of my 5 are called by their full names by everyone, no one shortens their names. (Except me, who calls them all sorts of weird names!)
