Would you tell someone they’ve misspelt their baby’s name?!

A colleague has recently announced the birth of ‘Pheobe’ on Facebook and have since referred to the baby as ‘Pheobe’ several times.

Would I be awful to gently suggest the correct spelling or just hope it’s picked up on when they register the birth?!

I once met a Bikayla. Her mum had told her dad to register Michaela but she had a cold at the time. And she remained Bikayla.

I wouldn't do it. Leave it to them and to their relatives.

A newborn baby came into NICU with just his dad who spelt his name “Pheonix”. One of the nurses tactfully jotted down the name and came back a few minutes later saying that it’s usually spelt Phoenix, is that how he wanted it to be spelt? I could tell that she knew straight away that it was wrong but didn’t want to embarrass him.

It’s probably intentional and happens fairly often. People think they’re being really unique.

I would write the correct spelling in a congratulations card and hope they realise for themselves Grin
