Hi ladies. I think dp and I have finally decided on a name for our baby boy due in January. We've spent months and months looking at different suggestions and keep going back to this one! So just trying to figure out spelling now... do you prefer Freddie or Freddy. Dp prefers Freddy and I prefer Freddie. Thanks guys!

Freddie is the way I see it normally. Would you consider Frederick as a full name?

Kate123cl · 08/11/2018 10:02

@Wombat222 Me too. Yes we probably will go with full name on the birth certificate Smile

Freddie!

Freddy is better for a boy.

Freddie sounds like it could be short for Frederica or Frederique as a girls name.

Shadow1234 · 08/11/2018 15:41

Prefer Freddie.

DramaAlpaca · 09/11/2018 23:53

It's not a name I like, but I'd spell it Freddie.

kaylanelson · 09/11/2018 23:58

Freddie 💙

Freddie seems to be the most usual although I do know of one Freddy.

I see it as similar to Charlie, Bertie, Alfie which to me wouldn't look right as Charly, Berty and Alfy.

Didyeeaye · 10/11/2018 17:57

My initial thought would be Freddie.

Freddie like Mercury not Freddy like Kruger

stellarfox · 11/11/2018 09:54

Freddie! As well as Frederick you could also have Alfred or Wilfred

lebkuchenlover · 11/11/2018 11:53

Why not Fred?

Icklepup · 11/11/2018 12:41

Freddie

My son is Freddy. I wasn't really fussed how we spelt it so DH chose. A lot of people will assume we spell it "ie" so we do have to make sure we mention "Freddy with a 'Y'" when speaking to Drs, nurseries or for anything official etc.

Although before he was born I was worried about people thinking of Freddy Krueger, I can assure you we all look at him and just see a very cheeky, funny, two year old and the name just "fits" I guess. Nobody thinks about Krueger lol.
