Hi i am looking for a welsh influenced name for a boy. Both DH and i are Welsh but live in England. Our first little boy was called Evan (sadly stillborn).

So ideally want something easily pronounced and spelt. Websites and books arent throwing up much inspiration.

DH doesnt like Dylan or Rhys (booo). I like Elis but he isnt convinced. Anything else i can throw in the mix?

There were loads of suggestions on this thread but it’s getting the English to be able to pronounce them that’s problematic. DC had a Rhys in class but the parents prounounced it Reece....and we live in Wales! Confused Evan is a lovely name for DS, so sorry for your loss Flowers

I'm Welsh and my DD has a Welsh name. She also goes to a Welsh speaking school and these are some of the boys names in her school.

Ifan, Iestyn, Ioan, Gethin, Aled, Harri and Macsen.

My favourite is Ifan pronounced 'e-fan'.

I know a Harri and a Taliesin (Tal) who live in England but have Welsh parents.

Threewheeler1 · 06/11/2018 08:37

Mansel.
Several in my family.

I love Macsen - a great historical figure although it could well get shortened to Max. I also particularly like Osian and Guto but I just love Welsh names.

AliCanTea · 06/11/2018 12:25

My favourite is Halwyn but maybe wouldn't flow with your surname?

spiderlight · 06/11/2018 16:04

Rhidian, Rhodri, Ieuan, Aled, Morgan. Macsen is lovely and he could go by Max if he prefers it.

CBA2RTFT · 07/11/2018 19:34

DC had a Rhys in class but the parents prounounced it Reece....and we live in Wales!

I live in Wales, and have met a few Rhys's... all pronounced Reece. How would you pronounce it, then?

Mamimawr · 07/11/2018 19:38

Elis is lovely. Others to consider - Osian, Gwyn, Siôn, Ifan, Gethin, Guto, Arwyn, Rhys, Dylan, Huw, Gareth, Gwion, Robin, Macsen, Harri, Jac, Noa, Morgan, Iwan, Ioan, Wil, Twm, Tomos x

There are several threads on this. Look at those for many good (and not so good) suggestions.
